Title: VDLM2 Decode and Display
Post by: Andyoxon on February 15, 2021, 11:02:40 AM
Morning all,

Having been a very long time SBS-1 owner, after a house move, I decided to concentrate on first ACARS, and now VDLM2.

Armed with a Raspberry Pi 4, an Airspy R2, and a lash up dipole for 137Mhz in the loft, I'm astounded by the volume of data, even in these quiet times for aviation.

My problem / question is, what do people use (or would use) to display in a (tidy fashion) this data.  I remember one on the earlier ACARS decoders from Mr Leconte worked as a web server, howevewr, this feature no longer seems to be implemented.
I've toyed with JSON, and UDP to a windows machine, but I'm really not a software genius!!

Thoughts welcome

Andy

Hi Andy,

PlanePlotter can display VDL2 plots. Not sure if it only works with MultiPSK or if it can handle other decoders - see screen grab on this page:

Hi,

I use this wonderful piece of software, which gives you a live view of the messages, stats, alerts and a searchable database.
