Hi,
Yesterday, the sbs stopped suddenly. No more blue signals so it must be the receiver part. The red, orange and green lights are working normally. Basestation says it is 'Connected to SBS-1'.
I tested it on 2 different pc's, also with different aerials to be sure it wasn't the serial.
Any idea what it could be?
Welcome.
Is the SBS-1e antenna connector OK? Does it feel loose?
Were the other antenna you tried suitable for 1090MHz?
Thanks for your quick reply, Anmer.
I took the PCB out of the SBS and checked the aerial connector, not loose at all.
I used two magmounds of Kinetic. As the SBS-1e with problems belongs to a friend, I took my own sbs-1e and tested it with the magmounds and that worked ok.
So aerials are ok, the issue is the sbs-1e reception part I think.
I even installed latest firmware on it yesterday. Just in case..
Regards, Andre
Thanks for the feedback.
If you're in the UK, Moonraker was offering an SBS repair service:

Ask for Chris Taylor.
Thanks Anmer.
I think it must be the component (Tecan) where the aerial is connected to.
Unfortunately I am not in the UK, I am 'stuck' on the other side of the North Sea. I will contact Chris and see if he has seen this issue before.
I can't remember, is the antenna connection BNC or SMA?
Have you opened the "box" to check inside for any damage to he antenna connection?
It is a SMA connection. I opened the box, took out the PCB and it all looks ok to me. No damage can be seen. No loose parts.
Thanks.
Maybe check there's no foreign object in the centre pin hole of the SMA?
