Title: Silhouettes
Post by: Triple7 on June 03, 2021, 03:20:52 PM
As IanK is not so active these days, would one of the other authors consider stepping in to produce the "classic" blue and black silhouettes please?

I have the following list and I know I am supposed to only request 5, but as this is an open request, I am hoping I will be OK asking for these - on an as and when basis:

AP32 - as https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/registration/G-DREW
FNKB - as https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Funk_B
CDW1 - as http://milky01.co.uk/?page_id=30633 scroll down to Chilton Aircraft company
VP2 - as https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/registration/G-BVPM
VFHC - as http://allaircraft.net/4images/details.php?image_id=53055&sessionid=99klj8uuanpu5if45tj31albg4
D8 - as https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/model/Fokker%20D.VIII%20Replica
D9 - as https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/9448164
M2HK - as http://www.flugzeuginfo.net/acdata_php/acdata_miles_m2hawk_en.php
BLKS - as https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/model/Oldfield%20Baby%20Great%20Lakes
PL1 - as https://doc8643.com/aircraft/PL1
QIC2 - as https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/view/1097427
RC3 - as http://www.seabee.info/rc3_779.htm
A600 - as https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/model/Rotorway%20A600%20Talon

I hope I have got all of the ICAO designators correctly identified!

Thanks in advance.

Tim

Hi Tim

I am happy to have a go at these.

There are a few Black on Blue silhouettes in my logos thread if you want to have a look. Happy to take feedback

Life's busy at the moment.... but think of Guinness ;)

Hi Richard,

Thanks for taking up the challenge! The silhouettes you have produced are spot on, so the same blue / black style is exactly what I was hoping for.

No rush at all just as and when time allows.

Thanks,

Tim

Note sure where to asks as it seems some of the request forums are locked  :-[

I wonder if there is a silhouettes for the MQ-9 Reaper? I guess it doesn't have any official Model ICAO other than DRON.

Thanks,
Matthijs

Try searching in the Gallery for "UAV"

If you want any more do let me know. I am going through all the ICAO type codes mostly in an alphabetical manor, but more than happy to jump out of order.

I have another one which I could not find (did search on VALI and Silhouette VALI)

Do not have any silhouette of the VALI

Just asked as I notice the Vultee BT-13A Valiant (N313BT) without silhouette.
Looks a bit like the North American T-6 Texan, so should I just use that silhouette?

Thanks!
Matthijs

Hi Matthys

I can do a VALI for you. You could use the T6 (but I'm gonna make you a silhouette :) ) I do  each one from scratch so that they are accurate as possible.

Moving forward please can you pop your requests in this thread:

https://radarspotting.com/forum/index.php?topic=15236.0

I nearly missed seeing this one.

Hi John. Are you after a coloured side view or Black on Blue silhouette? If after a B on B silhouette use the F900. If you want a coloured side view I can put one together no problem. If you wanted Nose/tail etc you will need to request in the appropriate creators request thread's.
Cheers.

Hi there

We have just had a visit in Sydney from an Air Baltic A220-300.  It is only a week old, but I am sure that these aircraft have been flying in Europe for longer than that.  I believe the ICAO code is BCS3.

I couldn't find a silhouette so if someone would like to add one that would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Mark

If you do a Gallery search for "BCS3" you should find quite a few silhouettes  ;)

Hi

Thanks very much, much appreciated.

Can I ask how difficult they are to do? I have an old version of Photoshop and with the Snipping Tool I have done a few logos. I tried searching to see if anyone had ever posted any instructions, but a search with silhouette in it comes up with thousands of matches.

Thanks again.

No problem.

As for ease - it depends on what image you start out with (drawing vs photo), how big it is (larger image will produce a more accurate to size end result), how clear it is (blurry or faded image make it harder to get a crisp end result). Some have taken me 2 mins to do, some have taken 30mins+

I came up with my own way of doing the silhouettes based on my side view work, but I would not know where to start in PS. My process has evoloved over time to overcome different issues I have encountered along the way.

Happy to make others if you need.
