Rick,
Just to say a very big thank you for the duel views.
I am using them all (if type seen) and think they really do look good when shown in a program like Kelvin Cross's Mode S tweaker.
Look forward to further productions.
As, said Thank you so much.
Mike/Roadrunner
Rick.
Just to prove my point - a copy from the screen
[attachment deleted reduce file load]
Thanks for the feedback Mike! Really good to see them up on the screen. This has made my day.
Do feel free to request ones that I have not done yet and I will prioritise those over my current rough alphabetical approach.
Hi there
Thank you for all your excellent work on the Silhouettes. I can't find one for the Extra NG so would really appreciate it if one could be added in the future.
Thanks in advance.
Mark
EXNG - I'll do that one next time I am doing a silhouette session.
Cheers
R :)
Mark - added EXNG for you and also did all the other EXTRA aircraft with ICAO type codes.
Rick,
Can I take you up on the offer as I have foiund a few types in my seen list that I cannot find silhouettes for either in the new Gallery or the sets of logos I have locally on my PC. they er:-
A33P CLDS GB1 HIGH TS1J P212.
There are plenty of coloured side viewsof these but no actual silhouettes.
Best regards
Mile
Regards Mikes (Roadrunner) comments and Screen Shot, I have to say I'm with you on this Mike.
This is one thing I always thought Active Display lacked in having the extra Silhouette Field alongside the Flag & Operator Feilds.
This would had help the new people that come into the SBS and Aircraft Spotting hobby in seeing the Silhouette of the Aircraft that might just be about to fly over their location.
New people into the hobby may not know what a DH82 or a A109 or Nynja 91-25 looks like these Silhouettes definetly help and also give you a heads up that the Aircraft using the Hex Code might be a new frame that needs Updating/Re-populated, as it's not the aircraft visually seen.
Hi Mike
Apologies for the delay in responding. I have been bringing two new receivers on line at remote locations and integrating them into my VRS setup and setting up feeds to many other websites.
I will do those ones that you have listed next time I am silhouetting.
A33P and GB1 were missing from my list (I am working from a list from 2019 as that is the most recent one I could find - the official ICAO website (https://www.icao.int/publications/DOC8643/Pages/Search.aspx) does not appear to have the ability to download a spreadsheet with all the info of the type codes in. If anyone is able to point me at a more recent list of official ICAO Type codes I would be most grateful)
Mike you do get some of the credit for the DV idea as you suggested it following on the from the "Thank you NHS" Spitfire sideview I made last year and for the on-going encouragement and support - thank you Mike.

All added to the gallery - Regular and D.V.
Rick,
Thank you for the requests that you have just done for me.
I must say that it is I that should be thanking you for taking on this additional task.
Ally this to the addition of the Mode-S Tweaker program and all the other logos we have available to us it is now possible to see the fruits of peoples labours "In-situ" and therefor, find any "missing" entries on our databases.
I am so glad I am into this hobby - My wife calls it my life support system!

Hijacking Roadrunners thread as a Silhouette and Dual View Silhouette Requesting thread. Please add your requests below.
Rick,
Thank you for the massive upload of new DV silhouettes yesterday. They add an extra something to the silhouette column on screen.
Best regards
Mike
Forgot to ask for the following which are the only ones in my lists as "seen" between A and C999 in the Genreal aviation list

Hi Mike
As always, glad that you like them.
I'll get on to those DVs you requested for the next batch - if any others are missing that you need do let me know as there are approx 400 for which I have done Silhouettes, but not Dual Views. Once I get to the Z's I'll go back and fill in the missing ones, where I can. In the mean time ask away!
R :)
Hi Mike
The ones you requested are now in the gallery. Along with a few others.
Anymore just let me know.
R :)
Rick,
Thanks for another great load of DV silhouettes. Can you please do the following if possible.
C195 CH70 COL3 CP10 CP23 CP65
A306 A310 A3ST B703 B721 B722 BLCF C17
Really do appreciate all the time and effort you are putting into doing all these.
Best regards
Mike
Sorry for the slow reply... not ignoring you. Life's been busy so have been creating just not posting or popping onto the forum as much.
I will aim to work on those this weekend... all being well.
Rick,
Thanks once again for the most recent Dual Views. The more I see them on screen the more I like them.
Keep up the good work
Best regards
Mike
No problem Mike.
I have completed the ones you requested, but have not posted them yet. I am currently at work, but will aim to get them up once home.
They are growing on me too and I have been considering replacing the silhouettes on my website with the DV ones. Still undecided.
All posted up for you. Plus a few additional ones
Any more let me know.
Hi Rick,
Thanks for those. I do have some that I would like to see
C130, C30J, A400, DC10 (KC10), EUFI, F15, F16, F35, HAWK, AJET, GNAT, STRK,
HURI, LANC, ME09, T6, CORS, WCAT, ST75, CJ6.
Hope that snot being greedy. Would especially like to see the DC10 (KC10) on screen before they all end up in the Boneyard!
Best regards
Mike
Hi Mike
I'll get on those this week and put them up with the next batch.
R :)
Thanks Rick
Look forward to seeing them
Mike
All posted for you. Enjoy!
Rick,
Sorry for the delay in saying thank you for the latest batch of DV silhouettes. They are brilliant and the more I see of them the better they look.
Best regards
Mike
No worries.
I note Pipo is using them with his "Aircraft Details" page (https://radarspotting.com/forum/index.php?topic=15285.msg83331#msg83331). It is nice to see that the use is spreading.

No problem Mike.
The ZIPS on my github repo get up dated with new stuff as I make them - part of my off-site back up process for this part of the hobby, also also a way for PlaneAlert (https://www.cornwallvrs.duckdns.org/planealert/)/PlaneFence (https://www.cornwallvrs.duckdns.org/planefence/) to automatically grab the silhouettes
Please do be aware that they have NOT been checked with BMPChk, unlike the ones that Anmer puts up on the forum, which have been through a more rigorous checking process. Being at the 'bleeding edge' of dual view silhouette use comes with a few slight risks ;)
I will get on to those requests over the next few weeks.
p.s. R135 should have been in the file you downloaded - please can you check?
p.s.s. updated and checked zips will be going to Anmer in the next few days.
Mike - in your request you have listed AN74. Did you mean AN72? There is no ICAO type AN74. The Antonov AN-74 a/c is listed under the AN72 type code.
Cheers
R :)
Also... you have asked for CL85. I can find no a/c for this type code. Please confirm.
Thanks
R.
Rik,
the AN74 was UR-74010 of Antonov Airlines which went into Brize in 10/09/2021 and the CL85 is the bizz jet version of CRJ2 and is not actually an Official code.
regards
Mike
Thanks for letting me know Mike. Are you happy to use AN72 and CRJ2 DV Silhouettes for these. Just copy and rename them if you need to.
Thanks
R :)
Yes Rik, I can do that.

Mike

KC39 appears to be a depreciated / custom ICAO type code as well. Just use E390 and re-name accordingly.

p.s. got any more screen shots??
Hi Rik,
It seems as though there is a mixtuire of silhouettes and dual views in your postings for the single silhouettes.
e.g https://radarspotting.com/forum/index.php?topic=13481.msg84399#msg84399
Thanks.

Looks like Rik has posted some dual views in his single view category.
Joys of longs days... and poor sleep. Sorting out now :)
I have had a further scan through the silhouettes gallery in the light of day and after some rest and moved one more (CH80) to the correct place. If you spot anymore let me know. Thanks.
Rik,
just to show a picture from my current Sqb file, attached is the picture of some Mil entries.

Nice! Thanks Mike. They look really good - I don't use this part of my own work, but looking that that... I may just be able to be persuaded.
I think you need to post a request up to get the dual view maker to fill in the ones that aren't dual view!! Xmas is over and he needs to get back to making ;)

Hi Mike (roadrunner)
Please can you clarify G209? - there is no aircraft type code against this ICAO code.
Also, I am unable to do a DV for the DA50 - I am unable to find a top view for it. The few drawings that are out there that claim to be a DA50 are in fact a DA40. If you are able to find a 3-view of a DA50 please let me know.
Cheers
Rik
p.s. M7 should already be in the gallery even if not in the ZIP - it is on my completed list apparently.
Hi Rick,
G209 is a miss-type for G109 Grobb powered glider.
I have now found M7.
sorry for the errors
Mike
No need to apologise.
Thanks for the clarification
R :)
Hi Mike
Hope things are good with you?
Further clarification please? PA39? - there noting against this ICAO code. I checked PA36 / PA38 and they both have DVs.
Also, MOR2 is in the gallery.
I am about down to the PTS1/2, so if you have anymore please post them up.
Cheers :)
Rick
I have 2 entries in my basestation.sqb file for PA39 and they are N39CR and G0LARE. I use Plane Base as my updated and both have PA39 as the ICAO designator.
I need to go to spoecsavers about MOR2 !
Regards
Mike
Hi Mike
Thanks for getting back to me :)
N39CR is a Piper PA-39 - the ICAO type code for this is PA30. One of those where multiple similar types go to one ICAO type code. I would up date your DB to PA30 for those two.
Cheers
R :)
p.s. - same a/c but with contrarotating props
"The Piper PA-30 Twin Comanche is an American twin-engined cabin monoplane designed and built by Piper Aircraft. It was a twin-engined development of the PA-24 Comanche single-engined aircraft. A variant with counter-rotating propellers was designated the Piper PA-39 Twin Comanche C/R." - Wikipedia

Rick
Since my previous reply I have been looking at the IC AO DOC8643 and the correct designator for type PA-39 is in fact PA30, which you have done.
I have changed the ICAO info for these two in my databse.
Best regards
Mike
There is always something to tweak/change in these databases and always something new to learn.

rick the closest i could find was this
I'll see what I can do with that picture. Thank you.... if it looks **** then you may have to live with out. I'll let you know ;)
Thanks Rick,
There are mostly videos showing the aircrafts performance than stills, and I noticed that there is more than one aircraft type for ICAO code DA50 but they are slightly different in profile.
Just noticed something else I can't find B350. I've looked in the Gallery and cant ss it in there. There is a BE30, which is very similar.
Best regards Mike
just about to go out and indulge in my other hobby, model railways.
Hi Mike
I'll add B350 to the list. :)
I think that some of the images that you may be seeing (if they are the 3-views on Google) are of miss-meta tagged DA40s. I nearly got caught out myself. It's a mine field out there. I may see if I can capture a still from a video - I have done that with a couple of the standard silhouettes where no decent side shot stills existed. Only two a/c variants fall under the DA50 ICAO code - the Magnum and SuperStar (+/- DA-50 designator)
Enjoy your trains - I have been becoming more familiar with some train related stuff as my Dad gets me to bid on eBay to feed his Hornby Dublo addiction.

Is that three rail Dublo?
He does both 2 and 3 rail, but appears to be mostly 3 rail. I've mostly been buying parts for him to refurbish / repair locos. He got my old 2 rail set, from when I was a nipper, going really smoothly again.
Thanks for all your effort.
Please can you make a dual View PC12
Thank You.

Hi Neil
I have done this, and will post it up with most of the ones Roadrunner wanted when I next do some posting.

Posted up Neil's and most of Mike's requests.
Still short the YK52, B350 and DA50 - this weeks projects
Rick,
Thank you so so much for all those you've done. It is all very much appreciated.
There are 2 others not done yet, somehow I must have missed them. PULR and SA02.
Sorry that they keep turning up!
All the best
Mike
Rick,
Thought it was about time to show a current state of my .Sqb file using the current range of logos/silhouette.
This was taken a few seconds ago so there are a few records with no details waiting the system to catch up.
Looking good, Mike! Thanks for sharing.
I have done all the ones you have requested apart from the DA50 - still looking for the perfect top shot.
The PULR (P&M AVIATION, PulsR) - if you know of a good 3-view drawings let me know. I have managed to coble something, but was unable to find any decent drawings / plans to base from, so the end result is a mash-up of three other silhouettes to roughly represent that airframe.
I will try and get them posted up later today / tomorrow.
Rick,
Thanks for all you do.
The following link shows photos of the PulsR
http://www.pmaviation.co.uk/gallery/index.php/The-Flying-Show-2011
Dont know if any are any good for you.
Only got one on my database G-SFCM !

Mike
No problem Mike.
The link probably shows that I may need to make the back end of the PULR silhouette a 'bit more pointy' Hopefully what I have posted will suffice. Just the DA50 left to do, all the rest are posted, I think.
R :)
DA50 - all done. Followed your video idea, Mike. After several hours of VT video came across a video with a 3-view illustration of a DA50, with a Reg on! Googled the reg, found the 3-view - job done :)
Thanks Rick,
You are a star!
Mike
Rik,
Just had a Y11 pop up on my screen. Can you do a DV logo for it in due course please.
Also, very low priority are the helicopter types, which I know must be very difficult, that is if they are not possible please say.

LOL - I was waiting for the helicopter request ;)
Will do the Y11 as well.
Heli's are doable - I will shortly be posting up the EN28 as I picked one up yesterday and made a Silhouette Set for that type.
RIK,
Didn't u spot the deliberate mistake? Y11 should be YK11.
I have also been checking up and sorting stuff out and have a few I have found. Proba bl.yh not noticed as I am not spending as much time glued to the PC.
I have no DVs for the following, I have checked in your latest zips and on the Forum logos site.
BN2P/T C208 F406 P180 TBM7 B52 E8 IL96 KC46 P8.
Sorry for the extra additions.
Mike
QuoteDidn't u spot the deliberate mistake? Y11 should be YK11.
- well I did wonder, but as there is a Y11.... I figured you knew what you were doing ;)
Will add those to the list.
NOT always Rick!
Hi Mike
Just working though some of your requests, some of your ICAO's list are not official ICAO type codes
E8 -> B703 (not in gallery yet)
KC46 -> B762 (which should be in the gallery, but I have not checked)
Will get onto the Heli's at some point :)
tHANKS Rick
I run an ICAO check on Planebase and ask it to only show ICAO codes and i think these two still come up wrong.
Regards
Mike
Rick,
Thank you for this latest bumper lot of DV logos.
There can't be too many more that I've asked for to be done, however, as usual, I have found one more to add.
GPRO as per reg HA-XEN
Best regards
Mike
Always the way... I'll have a stab at the GRPO. Thought I had done it, turns out I had only looked at it before, and got distracted.
Hi Rick how are you doing.
Picked up a couple of types in last week or so that need dv silhouettes
BKLS = Oldfield Baby Great Lakes G-BKCJ
L13S = Aerotechnik L-13SW Vivat D-KWSJ
If you can do these for me it would be much appreciated
Best regards
Mikme
Hey Mike
I shall take a look at those two... don't hold your breath on the BKLS - I vaguely remember that one being difficult to find a decent side of, let alone a top view.
Mike - I think you are a lucky charm. I just went to fact check my previous statement and ran into a top view fairly quickly that I am sure I did not see last time I looked :)
Will get them done soon.
Rik :)
Rick,
Thanks for the few posted recently.
A couple of new DV requests have come up,
KIS2 and MCR4.
If you could o them when you get time.
Did you get to see the Jubilee flypast live? ( did and it was worth the effort.
Best regards
Mike
Hi Mike
No problem. I will get onto those soon. Is there any chance of you doing a round up please? I am sure there are a few I have missed and some heli's that I have not done either. I've been somewhat distracted of late by side views and rebuilding my PiVRS web server to cope with more traffic without crashing.
Unfortunately, I completely missed the Jubilee flypast, for which I am still kicking myself.
Keep well.

It's a shame they dispersed so far to the East. Really not well thought through IMHO ;D
Thankfully, there is a 'wonderful' thing called television, which I also failed to utilise on this occasion. ;)
The BBMF seemed to have more firepower than the rest of the flypast combined. :(

Hi Mike. Quick update
General aviation & Mil
M108 - No top view, and the only 3-view drawing I can find is definitely not of the correct a/c
RELI - initially mis-read this as PELI, so made one for that. When writing this saw my mistake and made RELI
T18 - already in gallery
TEX2 - now made
Jets
B703 - already in gallery
SU95 - now done
TOR - now done, as a tri-view (can you guess what I did?)
Can't face helicopters this evening
Enjoy
Rik :)
Hi Rick,
I do like the TOR very very good!
Don't know how I missed the T18.
If you could do another zip of these then maybe I will make sure I havent missed any.
Are their any more swing wing types that could be tri-view - or is that too tri-ing
Best regards.
Mike
Great that you like the TOR. I was undecided which way around to do the smaller images.
There are a few more swing wings that spring to mind, but none that we'll probably see over this way anytime soon - unless they come armed to the teeth
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable-sweep_wing#List_of_variable-sweep_aircraft (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable-sweep_wing#List_of_variable-sweep_aircraft)
Yep - ok the silhouette zips could use a refresh, it's been over 6 weeks and while I have not produced heaps in that time an update might be good. Something for the weekend.
I'll tri and ignore your pun - nothing is too tri-ing. Where there is a will there is a way.
Hi Rik
Can you please do me a S92 and R44 DV Silhouette when you get a free moment please.
Thanks
Ben
Done and posted up in the gallery

Hey Rik,
Can you please do me a DV Silhouette for a Lynx helicopter.
Thanks
Completely missed this post.... Yes, I will do you a Lynx DV.
All done and posted. :)
Good Evening, Rick
When you have time, could i please have a Silhouette for a Gulfsream Aerospace G800 (ICAO GA8C).
Many thanks and regards
Steve Coulson
Hi Steve
All done... no dual view thought. Can't find a top view.
Have also done Generic and Gulfstream (GLF) sides as well.
Rik :)
Hi Rick,
Thank you for the GA8C Silhouette. I have not seen much info about the GA4C yet, but if by chance you have, could i please have a Silhouette for it.
Many thanks and regards
Steve Coulson
Hey Steve.
I have come across nearly nothing on the G400 - however....
I'm going to ask the community for a bit of assistance. I have found a picture, essentially the same source as the G800, but for G400, but it cuts off the side view. I used my free gratis one article on Flight Global on the G800 image, and I am not paying there subscription fees. Can't afford them.
https://www.flightglobal.com/flight-international/gulfstream-pitches-g400-at-large-cabin-market-sweet-spot/150140.article
If anyone is able to view the full article, click on the image and save a full-size version and send it to me that would amazing.
I have attached the picture so you know what you are looking for.
Any help appreciated. :)

Sweet! Thanks Steve... the GA4C silhouette may be a project for another evening, but now I have the source material.
Thank you
R :)
All sorted.
Three attempts on the silhouette and I am still not completely happy with it.
Hopefully at some point a larger image will become available to to work with.
In the mean time.... I hope this will do?
Hi Rik,
Sorry it has been such a long time since last "spoke" but been busy and cutting down on PC time.
I have been using more of your dual view transparent images but I am encountering a problem. I have been using individual airliner and bizz jet logos, no problem but this morning I down loaded from your site the transparent DV logos and added all the Piper Pa and P staring logos, selecting those that I wanted. They are now in my file BUT when they appear in the BaseStation list they're still the pale blue background. I have closed both programs with no change. The only way I can get the transparent background is if I indiviually select each one and do it manually... Any ideas?
Hiya. Not being a Basestation software user - I'll probably not be of much help, but I'll have a stab at a few ideas.
a) you definely put the transparent silhouettes in the correct folder for BaseStation to use?
b) the files that you are adding are actually transparent? - might be worth checking a few in an image viewer of your choice - should either come up with a checkerboard bg or white depending on software used.
c) I have no idea if BS makes use of temporary files, but it might be worth clearing temp files from your PC.
d) when you say 'downloaded from your site' do you mean the files section of this forum, or from my Github repo (they should both be the same file, but a potential source of a mistake on my part if they are not the same)
e) they are working but the silhoeutte b/g in BS is set to pale blue which is then coming thought (again I don't know if you can do this in BS)
f) something else that someone else might suggest.
Aparently the transparent silhouettes don't work very well in BS, they don't display great, but will display correctly in Faramir/Pipo BS addon thingy.
Hi Mike
Rik's transparent silhouettes carry a "health warning" in the download:
The silhouettes don't display too good in the Basestation aircraft list. The main use is in the popup Aircraft Details window, as shown below.
They also display OK in Virtual Radar Server (VRS).
See attached using Rik's transparent R44.bmp file. It shows OK in the Aircraft Details window but not so well in the aircraft list.

Hi Rik/ Anmer,
Thanks to both of you for that, I had not picked up on it. However, having said that most are displaying white background and those that don't seem to come good if I just adjust the logo by using the white fill in the "transparent" area and they are good to go.
Rik I have a copy of your last downloads from you of complete folder. It is interesting that on some when importing a get an error warning about transparency from the system.
The logos still look Good and I thank you for the time spent doing them.
You probably know what's coming next, a few more i' like please in the transparent
D253 E260 M108 MIMU SAPH and SU29

Hi Mike
What "system" generates the error message? Can you post a screenhot?

No worries Mike. I'll add them to work list - I need to make sure there are standards DV's of them first. All I do is strip the blue from the b/g following a technique Faramir taught me, so it is nice and easy.
E260?????? Can't find an aircraft type relating to this ICAO Type code. Did you mean F260?
EDIT: All done as DV, so transparent DV will appear in the next ZIP I do.
Hi Rik,
Sorry for the non-reply to your question. The aircraft I have shown as E260 is G-EXTR An Extra EA.260 c/n 004 It picks up the code A260 from PlaneBase. I assume it is a custom build but not really up on these things...
Regarding the error message. What happens when I put one of the "transparent" logos into the sb file it was coming up transparency may be lost and it was paint that was issuing the waring. In actual fact If I used the white colour brush in all the "transparent" areas this happens as well, but unless I have done that and get the message just from putting you logos into base station they don't always end up with the Transparent background and revert to the blue. No worries though as I know what to do now
that should read picks up the code E260 ???

Hi Mike
The Extra EA 260 doesn't appear to have an ICAO Type Designator assigned.
The CAA doesn't show one for G-EXTR and ICAO doesn't list an Extra EA 260.
Glad you know what to do with the error, as I am clueless on this. :)
I can't find an ICAO for EA.260 either - thanks for checking Anmer.
More than happy to do one as a ZZZZ-E260 non-standard as I have done with some of the other silhouettes I have done.
Rik, Anmer thanks for the feedback. a ZZZZ-E260 would be great
Best regards
Mike
All done - Standards Silh, DV and Generic Side.
Still need to run the process for the transparents
@Roadrunner - all done and uploaded for you, zips refreshed as well. Anymore requests, just post away :)
Hi Rik
Have you made a silhouette for a Helton Lark 95?
https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/G-LARK
No, I have not, but I am about to make one.
As there appears to be no offical ICAO type code for the Helton Lark 95 I'll do it as ZZZZ-LARK.
Thanks Rik, much appreciated.
I couldn't find an ICAO designator either.
Rik,
Photo of Mil-171 9813
Following on from the PM's, the official ICAO Type code for the Mil-171 is MI8.
M171 is another unofficial PlaneBase ICAOType code. Frustrating, but it is there DB and their prerogative to use whatever ICAO type codes they like, we just have to work with it.
Will do a DV for MI8 when I get around to a batch of silhouettes.
Thanks Rik
Hi Rik
Some additional info for you when doing the silhouettes,
The only visible differences between the Mi-8 and Mi-17 are A) the position of the tail rotor (Mi-8 right side, Mi-17 left side), B) the shape of the exhausts (Mi-8 circular, Mi-17 oval), and C) Dust shields in front of engine air intakes for the Mi-17.
Hope it helps or may be of intrest.
Regards
Steve Coulson
Thanks Steve. Always interesting to learn something new :) It's the little things that keep this hobby interesting!
I don't think that A) or B) would probably be picked up on a silhouette, but C) more than likely would.
A) may also play a part when doing the top view for a DV, so will have to bare this in mind.
When making a silhouette with multiple types under the same code I aim to try for the original type for the ICAOType code... unless I can't find a drawing (or a very decent image) to work with. Then I'll use whatever I can find.
Good Evening Rik,
I was wondering if you could please make me a Silhouette for a Beech (Textron Aviation) B260 King Air. I am not sure of the external diffarance between say a BE20 or the new B260 but if you could have a go please.
Many thanks and kind regards
Steve Coulson
Hi Steve
The Beech (Textron Aviation) B260 King Air falls under the official ICAO Type Code of BE20. I presume that B260 type code is one of the PlaneBase 'custom' ICAO type codes. I can see no obvious external difference, so if you copy and rename your copied BE20 silhouette to B260, you should be covered.
Cheers,
Rik :)
