Title: How does Standing Data Maintenance work?
Post by: 张树杰 on August 19, 2022, 05:58:53 AM
Virtual Radar Server retrieves Mode-S and callsign from ADS-B signal and requests aircraft and route information from its online database.

Sometimes I find aircraft or routes missing, then I submit them for approval on https://sdm.virtualradarserver.co.uk/Edit. The piece of information I have submitted for approval would be in a batch queue. I noticed that some batches are approved in less than 24 hours, but sometimes it would be pending for a couple of days.

Does this website handles batches automatically and on schedule, or is there a guy behind it handling batches at any moment.?

Are you finding some of YOUR submissions being processed in less than 24 hours and others after a few days?

Yes. I guess I can see only my submissions because I am not an administrator of that website.

I live in Asia so there is a time difference between the Virtual Radar Server's official website server and my place. All of the batches I submitted on Monday here, including routes, airlines, and aircraft were approved on Tuesday (that is Monday night in the UK), so the next day I logged in I found my batch queue empty. But it's Friday afternoon here now and the batches I submitted on Tuesday are still there.

Thanks.

I'm guessing the submissions are being manually reviewed and not automatically processed.

I had an email from Andrew - who writes VRS - a while back when I was asking about the lack of updates to the VRS DB and the move away from PB data. One of my questions was around peer review of user submitted data. This was confirmed. All submissions are being reviewed by a person before entry into the VRS DB.

Then the problem is submissions are delayed for a day to a week before approval. Maybe they could involve more administrators.

UPDATES
Now on Saturday this morning, my route submission is finally approved. But aircraft and airlines I submitted are still pending. Maybe  someone forget to review this part of user submission data.
