Maybe they think they're being far-sighted if they need the area for a spaceport? Just an observation, not a personal opinion.
But a shame to lose the facillity with no alternative.
Money over culture. I can see the 'need' for a spaceport, but surely every good space port needs a visitor centre? With real aircraft in?
Will definitely be making a final visit or two before the end of October.

Those heritage centre's are important! If we lose where we came from (on a subject) all it's experience is lost forever!
Things from the past still have an enormous value for our way way of life today...
