Those who use Basestation, PlanePlotter and RadarBox can add outlines to their respective maps, typically coastlines, holds, centrelines, airways and airfield runways.
I've just uploaded approximately 1,600 airfield outlines, mostly created by Rod Bearden and others. Many of these outline files were hosted on a Gatwick Aviation Society server and downloaded using SBS Resources, However the server is long gone and I'm not aware of another repository. In many cases, an outline author is unknown.
Whilst these outlines are or have been freely available elsewhere, I'm conscious they're not a Radarspotting asset and will remove any if asked by the original creator. However I would like to acknowledge those who I know have created many of the outlines, even if I can't attribute them to specific files. So, to the following, in no particular order, my thanks for their hard work:
Rod Bearden
Paul Brown
Truetrack
Ian Gott
Pipo
Skywatch
Faramir
Anmer ;)
To download an Outline, select the top menu item "Outlines". There's a useful Search option which should make it easy to find an outline you're after.
If you can't find one, there's a free Guide (https://radarspotting.com/forum/index.php?action=tportal;sa=download;dl=item45) on how to create your own. Or post a request in this thread.
And if you have an outline to share with forum members, you can upload it in the Outlines area.
The Outline Title should be the official airfield/airport name followed by the ICAO four letter airport code. See field highlighted yellow.
Optionally you can add a description, keywords and an outline image. The Outline image should be a recognised image file, such as .jpg, .bmp, .png. You cannot upload the .out file as an image.
An example "Download" page is shown in the attachment together with an optional airport outline image..
If anyone has other types of outlines they want to share or made available, just send me a Personal Message so I can create a suitable category. The same applies to Waypoint files.
Any questions or suggestions, please post in this thread. My thanks to Faramir and Triple7 for helping with this addition to the forum.
Would anyone out there have an up to date outline for Frankfurt airport for my SBS as the one I have does not show the new runway, have looked on this website but it has the same one I have
Thanks
Paul
Does the attached Google satellite view include the new runway? I assume it's the north/south one to the west?
Hi
I think this is what you are after in the attach.
Regards
Ian
Thanks for the outline of the new runway at Frankfurt it works a treat
Paul
Your welcome,
I have sent it to the outlines file to be approved so others can use it if they wish.
Ian
Hello,
I'm searching for the "new" Taxiway Layout Runway 23 / 33 (Linup Area) and Parking Area / Taxylines for EDDH.
Thanks
A380
Have you looked in outlines and in the search type EDDH.
There is 4 downloadable files which are Hi-Res.
The new International airport in Sydney (Western Sydney Airport) is due to open in 2026 and has its first scheduled flight today with testing of the approaches, lighting etc.
As the runways and taxiways are complete I was wondering if anyone has had a go at an outline for WSI?
Many thanks
Mark
Google may be good enough to make an outline but the satellite image used by Jordan's Outline Maker is older and building work is less complete. I assume the current phase is as per the attached?
Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (IATA: WSI, ICAO: YSWS) — also known as Sydney West Airport, Western Sydney Airport or Badgerys Creek Airport
I've had a stab at the new Western Sydney Airport:

Hi Anmer
That looks like a reasonably current diagram of the new airport.
Cheers

Evening all
Anybody point me to An outline for Southampton UK?
thanks Trev
If you search in the Outlines (https://radarspotting.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=search) section for EGHI you should find three files for Southampton.
Hi @ all and happy new year! - is it possible to draw circles around FRA apt? I need green circles in 5nm steps, 5 to 30 nm for fr24 radar view. BaseStation is not working on my laptop :-(
How would you use the outline circles if BaseStation isn't working?
Or do you want some help to get BaseStation working on your laptop?
Its about the circles. I want to simulate radar view for FRA with circles in fr24 radar view. Therefore i wanted to create a *.out file with 6 circles in 5nm steps (5-30nm) around FRA. The next days i try to get BaseStation working. Anyone knows, if i can create these circles in BaseStation program? I have no expirience here.
Sorry for the late reply, I was away shopping!
BaseStation allows for configurable range rings that can be centred on any selected waypoint. See the Reference Manual for more information.
Acarslogger may be able to create outline files for use in other applications such as FR24 Radar View.
I've asked him.
Thanks, i will try and report result :-)
Finally i found a solution without circles for me. I jused gpsvisualizer.com/draw/ instead of jordans outline maker, this one worked a bit better for me in this case. Even if i had to remove the last two digits of every coordinate. - And BaseStation is running now on my laptop. So i have the same overlay in flightradar24 RadarView and BaseStation now. ;D
Did you create circles with this tool?
no, just lines. I didn't find a tool to create circles for the outline file. Maybe anyone have a idea how to create circles?
Thanks. Our member Acarslogger sent me this out file. Is this what you need?
Heve you checked his existing outlines?

Great work - thx @Acarslogger ! :-) - i use VOR'S with 1NM circles additionally now for better orientation
