Title: No reports when using external feed
Post by: Clubba on July 19, 2023, 06:34:28 AM
Is there any way to to force VRS to record data from external feeds so I can see reports for that data?

What constitutes an "external feed" and in what way do you expect data to be "recorded" by VRS?

You can only log/record to the VRS Basestation.sqb DB one receiver (or merged feed) at a time. If you want to have a separate record for different receivers then you will need to run multiple instances of VRS and set these to each use a different receiver and have a separate DB for each one.

See the VRS documentation for the DatabaseWriter for further details

https://www.virtualradarserver.co.uk/Documentation/DatabaseWriter/Default.aspx

The only way I know of to run multiple instances of VRS on the same computer is to run them in a docker environment - I do this on my server and run 3 VRS's for different types of data feed - ADSB, HFDL and VDLM2.

I should of said more in the first post but it was a bit late...Apologies.

However I have just seen Riks post and after checking the writer plugin I saw there was a setting to choose a reciever or merged feed to embed the data to the .sqb.

Sometimes you just can't see the wood for the trees.
Thanks for the replies guys.
