Mode-S Receivers => Kinetic's Puck => Topic started by: aviaction on August 30, 2023, 12:13:25 PM
Just received a 1090 Puck. Just plugged in the work computer and all good. Bit more sensitive than SBS1 as I remeber the SBS 3 was..(sold)
Running Firmware 119.
The idea is its less room than an original SBS 1 (I still have 3x of these) when away in the caravan.
Did I read correctly these can also do Mode C? if so how?
I would have though with radar apps these would become obsolete? but I am finding the opposite that the percentage of visble aircraft has increased over time.
The 1090 Puck is an SDR (software defined radio), pre-tuned to 1090 MHz.
I suspect you'll need external software to decode any Mode C responses to SSR interrogation. PlanePlotter springs to mind.
Anyone konw if I can get a replacement top sticker for the Puck?
Do you mean the Kinetic round one?
I can scan one for you if that helps?
Thanks Anmer. I probably have that file
