So my 1st SBS1 has just about died.
Bought at the Donington Radio Rally from ML&S soon after the SBS1 was released earlish serial number 1376
Was using in the Loft when lost communication and power on USB. Still worked on USB with external Supplied power Supply
so put into my work desktop.
Just this week went a bit "deaf recently" with no blue leds and only receiving very nearby signal. Testing with a known good sbs with 2-3 leds lit
I don't think thats to bad as almost 20 years old.
I'd say you got your money's worth.

i got mine from AOR in Matlock serial number 000735 still running strong use it when out and about. and replaced for home use with a Puck from a good friend Shakey. The SBS1 was in use 24 hrs a day never turned of still have the original usb lead that lit up.
My SBS-1 (s/n 000008) is still blinking away under my desk, though I noticed that now it shares the outside antenna with my SBS-1eR, the latter detects significantly more packets from what are relatively blind spots on the LHR approach.
I must get round to replacing it with the SBS-3 that's sitting on my shelf and then see if the Science Museum wants it. :)
