Is anyone aware of the RadarBox software being used with a different Mode-S receiver?
A few months ago it was reported that Basestation was being used with one of the newer, cheaper receivers and I've since heard that someone has been able to do something similar with the RadarBox software.
But I haven't been able to verify this rumour or which receiver it might be.
If anyone has confirmation but prefers not to post on the open forum, please send me a PM. I will totally respect any confidentiality.
I should add that this could be a total red herring.
Yes I heard something about that as well, if I remember rightly it is a guy in the Ukraine that is making a new ads/b usb stick for use with the airnav software.
I will try and find the site which I seen it on, will post a link here when I find it.
Thanks.
I've had a couple of PMs but nothing that's in the public domain and I can share.
Anmer Looks like it is true, I have sent you a message with a link.
Thanks.
I can't see Brandao letting that happen. Stand by for injunctions and a lot of disappointed purchasers of the new receiver. At least there is always PlanePlotter to fall back on. ;D
I think you're right Tom, he'd go ape *hit as we say. But the challenge is stopping it.
I'll continue with my quest.

I wish airnav luck with litigation in The Ukraine.
As soon as he sells one in the EU or North America with hacked AirNav software it's a simple matter to stop any more being sold.

He'd have to commit a substantial sum to his lawyers and convice a court that his software was hacked.
If someone creates middleware that sits between a receiver and the freely available RadarBox software, where's the hack?
Well, perhaps Brandao has enough money to do that. Perhaps he would judge that the money required would outweigh the possible/probable loss of sales to AirNav.
Isn't there a EULA which you agree to on the installation of the software which precludes its use with other than AirNav receivers?

There's a Licence Agreement but the use of the RadarBox software with a receiver (of any kind) isn't mentioned.
I can't comment on the Radarbox software as I have never used it, however, if for example Kinetic released a version of Basestation that would work with any receiver and charged for it, I for one would be more than happy to part with my money. I am sure that others who also prefer the Basestation layout and functionality would think likewise.

It's been suggested before but Kinetic wasn'tt interested.
