Title: Problem with adding Airport Outlines in Basestation

Hi

I'm visiting a few Asian countries in a month's time and have downloaded the following outline files which don't appear on my chart display after I've copied them to my outlines folder.

Taiwan Taoyuan International RCTP.out
Taipei Taoyuan.out
Taipei Songshan RCSS.out
Taipei Songshan.out
Shanghai Hongqiao ZSSS.out
Pudong.out
Shanghai Pudong ZSPD.out
Seoul Incheon.out
Seoul Incheon RKSI.out
Seoul Gimpo.out
Seoul Gimpo RKSS.out
Tokyo Narita.out
Tokyo_Narita_RJAA.out

Only 2 of the total files I downloaded worked, they were Beijing Capital and Tokyo Haneda. I'm still looking for an outlines file for Beijing Daxing if anyone has one please.

I'm running my SBS-1e on a Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 64 bit operating system
Edition   Windows 10 Home
Version   22H2
Installed on   ‎15/‎03/‎2021
OS build   19045.4894
Experience   Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19060.1000.0

Basestation software version 1.2.4.184, firmware version SBS-1e build 402
Basestation software runs from Program Files (x86) and works fine. I also use an add-on, Basestation Analyser from Aerodata but it is no longer available as there will be a new version coming out in the near future (I hope!) When the new BSA version is available, I plan to buy a new laptop and reinstall from scratch, running Basestation off a folder off the root drive.

In Display Settings ---> Data Files, all the airport outlines I have installed start with AFB, AFM or AFP followed by an underscore and the airport name.

I also run Planeplotter on the laptop but won't reinstall it on the new laptop as I feel it is sadly lacking.

So, the question is, how do I get these outline files to show?

Apologies for such a basic point, but you don't mention if you have "ticked" the appropriate file names in the Display Settings ..... Data Files window.

Hi,

When you add new outlines into your outline folder, Basestation doesn't know about them. Try Settings > Reload > Outlines and it should list the new ones.

The chances are that you have a 'bad' outline file.

Look in the Basestation 'Debug' window. It may show the outline file that it didn't like.

Where exactly do I find the debug information? I've searched my C: drive for a debug file but can't find one.

Hi Dave,

Basestation > Settings > Toolbars > Debug.
It should display a new toolbar icon. Hover over it, and it should show 'Toggle debug'.

Where from? Was it this forum?

Do these outlines now display correctly for you in BaseStation?

When you ran debug, you saw an error for:

AFP_Hong Kong Lantau Island.out

You posted that removing this outline solved the runtime error.

But this outline wasn't in your original list (as above). When was this out file installed and where from?

Sorry, my browser was stuck on page 1, my fault.

The Lantau outline file would have been installed on my laptop in May because that's when I went to Hong Kong. It didn't cause any issues until last week.

Nowadays, I get all my outlines from this forum and you personally have been extremely helpful in the past few years.

Thank you for the Daxing outline.

Here you go.

For some reason, I added AFP_ to the filename. It causes a problem for me with or without the AFP prefix.

Thanks. I found the problem. There were a number of empty lines at the end of the file. With these, BaseStation errored.

I've now removed them and all is good. I've attached the amended file. Please try.

Do you know from where you obtained the file? It shows:

(c) Produced by Netcop

If the file was downloaded with the empty lines, it will cause errors for others too.

Well, that one worked fine and looks good on the screen.

However, this one now is causing an error.

US_AFP_Chicago_OHare_KORD.out

This is most odd as I was using it in July and it still works on my screen.

I've attached it should you want to take a look.

I can't see anything wrong with the Chicago file which loads and displays OK for me.

Are you sure this file is the problem?

Just to close this thread.

I made a Remote session and we found a bad Outline file. It had a header line:

GE image date 8/3/2011}

Instead of:

{GE image date 8/3/2011}

Editing the file in Notepad resolved the BaseStation error when reloading Outlines.
