Hi,
Long time, hope everything is well.
I am trying to make it working connected to my ethernet network.
It doesn't want to work ... No light :)
I have tried three different cables from cat5 to cat6.
Move from USB to Etehrnet .... Ethernet to USB and vice versa ....
Fresh install ....
[DataInterface]
LStat=48882458
SocketIntfIPAddress=192.168.206.250
SocketIntfPort=10001
Doesn't show on my network.
Ideas ?
Welcome back ;)
I assume you're using BaseStation with an SBS-3?
Has it ever worked using Ethernet?
Have you configured BaseStation to connect to the SBS-3 in Settings? What IP address and port number are set?
Do you know your local IP address range?
Yes I am running my BS with my SBS3.
Yes it was working over ethernet.
Yes I know my local IP range, I am the admin of my network ;)
I have connected the box to my network in the right VLAN. I am supposing that there is no DHCP client in the box ??
See the first post for the IP number.
And it doesn't create the sqlite3 DB ....
Thx
Thanks.
Worse case scenario the SBS-3's Ethernet has failed.
Have you checked SBS-3 works OK using USB?
I assume you've tried pinging the SBS-3?
I have a utility to reset the Lantronix back to the default IP and port if you want to try it? You would then need to set the IP address and port to whatever you want to use.
yes please
Silly mention. Is BaseStation Data Source set to "Use Network"?
:'( of course ....
But everytime I am moving in both way to USB or Ethernet, I have a popup with a BS error ... And it doesn't work even if using USB ... How to you choose the right COM port ?
I've emailed you a link to Lantronix. But if SBS-3 doesn't work using USB, does it have a suitable power supply

I am trying to do it in a second laptop with fresh install.
I need your auth to dl it.
Thx
Try now.
ok done, no need :) I have exactly the same thing that my main pc (running Lantronix) ...
But when running on my laptop (usb) , I have now an active session. And I know see the scope ... But I am using for this test my old sqlite3 ... How to generate a fresh one ?

Do you need a "fresh" sqlite3?
yep
Does the SBS3 now work using Ethernet?
As for SQLite3, Google it and go from there.
I am at the moment focusing on making it working on USB.
On my sbs3 box when connecting by USB to my PC:
Power: Red
USB OK: Orange
Signal 1.2.3 ON blue
Session Active: ON green
In the Kinetic folder in my PC:
UserData, BaseStation.exe, BaseStation, BaseStation.sqb, BaseStationReporter (from my old config), BaseStationReporter, sqlite.dll (from my old config)
Start running BS: A windows appear: BS Startup Configuration:
next - Enter Lat/Long - next - USB - next - choosing SBS3 - next - Test in progress - Test Failed
Questions:
How does the sqlite3 DB is generated ?
If no sqlite3.dll in the same folder than BS, there is no Active Session. If I add the sqlite3 from my previous config, I do have an active Session and the BS startup configuration windows.
What to do next ?
Thx
OK, let's focus on getting the SBS-3 running using USB.
Do you have a file named ftd2xx.dll in your BaseStation folder?
The sqlite3 file is needed for the Reporter database, not to run BaseStation.
The setup test is failing because BaseStation can't connect to the SBS-3. Typically because the USB drivers are absent.
In the BaseStation folder you should also have a file CDM20814_Setup.exe. In Windows Explorer, double click this file to load the drivers.
Yes I do have the ftd2xx in the folder, if not BS will not even start.
If I did understood well, if we do have the Session Active (green light) it means that BS is connected to the box, this is the case.
I have installed the USB drivers, but I do not find it in the list when running: devmgmt.msc ...
In the same time, I have used, from my previous config, the file SBS1 Link tester:
SBS-1 Link Tester started
Note:- You cannot test the link while BaseStation is running. If BaseStation is running then please shut it down before running a test.
Starting test, attempting to open USB link...

Seems to be communicating ?
Still not working.

Ok, I went outside with my laptop, it seems now to work on USB.
Something I have difficulties to understand, outside the signal was poor (Signal 1) but working when in my office the signal was at 3 or 4 .... I come back to you later today.

See attached image of part of Page 9 of the BaseStation Reference Manual.

Sorry, I don't understand this?
If you delete the existing
basestation.sqb file, restarting BaseStation will automatically create an empty sqb file.

How long is the USB cable connecting the laptop to the SBS-3 when you go outside?
The USB cable connected to the laptop is less than a meter.
I have tried with the Ethernet, not working.
No ping and I do not see the IP number chosen in my network.
Either the SBS-3 Ethernet has failed or there's an incompatibilty with your local network, either IP address and/or port number.
Don't ask me why but it is now working over ethernet ....
Thx a lot for your help .... It could have been more simple to add a dhcp client in the box ....

Good to hear it's working now. Thanks for the update.
It's a pity we don't know why it now works ;)
Not sure, but I think it is a mask pb. I gave an IP /24 instead of /26
