Southwest use to be nick named the "Fly Cattle Car" with its open seat policy.

If your so large or fat you take up more than one seat. Another should be paid for regardless if open seats are available. If this person was so humiliated maybe a diet is in order.

When I use to fly on Southwest I always sat in the emergency exit row up front. Plenty of leg room and I was more than capable of opening the exit door if needed.
