Maybe the file is being blocked by Win 8?  Check the file properties.

If you copied an existing SQB file, from which Windows version and file location?

Hi Anmer  thanks for your help,I think I made a mistake and just upgraded to win8. I have a feeling that might have deleted the SQB file .I did not copy it . But following instructions for win7 ,I got it to work but only some reggies and operators come up the SBS-1 GAS auto populate works fine .I am not quite sure what went wrong.
Best wishes Charlie

Hi all after a lot of tweaking Iam still only getting about 50% of reggies and flags appearing ,no idea why this is but otherwise it all works fine .

How are you "populating" the database with registrations and flags (or do you mean operator logos)?

Hi Iam populating with with gas SBS1 Populate and i also downloaded the .sqb file from the sbs resource site .
I have all the flags come up but only some operators in that column and only some reggies ,in their respective column ,I suspect a file out of place somewhere as otherwise its fine .Best wishes charlie

What is the database path set in SBS-1 Populate?

Does Windows 8 have a Virtual Store?  If it does, maybe the "active" Basestation.sqb file is there and the one in the Kinetic->Basestation folder is the "ghost" one?

My guess is you've been populating an empty sqb file in the Virtual Store.

I can confirm I have tested Windows 8 (64 bit) with BAsestation and AD-Lite it works fine just installed to defaults

Help - having swapped Windows XP laptop for one running Windows 8, I cannot get my SBS3 discto load without an error message appearing saying "file ftd2xx.dll" is missing.
Any clues?

You need to copy that file to the new PC.

Try copying it to the Basestation folder.  I don't have Win 8 here so am not sure which system folder it needs to be in.  But placing it in the Basestation folder has worked OK on other Win versions.

If that doesn't work try putting it in C:\Windows\System32.
