Mode-S Receivers => Kinetic's SBS-3 => Topic started by: Anmer on December 23, 2012, 06:10:09 PM
Although I was able to successfully update my SBS-3 firmware to the beta version 118, there are a number of reports of others not being able to connect to the SBS-3 using Ethernet after the upgrade. In my case everything works OK.
Those who have this problem have reverted back to version 116.
I think Kinetic is investigating but you may want to avoid this upgrade if you use Ethernet to connect to the SBS-3. This is a beta release so bugs may be present.
Hi ,
I have download the BaseStation Version 1.2.3.178 - But will leave downloading FW118 until I hear more from Kinetic .
So - for time being my SBS3 is on 178 and firmware 115 . Also on Ethernet . My Acars is working decoding 4 Freq's .
I lost V116 some were in the screw up !!
Still would like a answer to how we are going to display all these SBS3 ACARS logs :-\ Its a shame to have it running and not be able to send them to the ACARS forum sites .

Hi
I know it has been mentioned already that there seems to be a problem with FW 118 but I just thought I add my two penny worth. I had a go tonight in downloading BS 178 & FW 118 but I had no joy with the Firmware so I am back to FW 115 along with BS 178 which seems to be running ok. My serial number is in the 31*** range.

I was running my SBS-3 on Ethernet on one PC and when I went to upgrade the firmware to v118 it would not work. So I tried on my other PC where I used to run the SBS-3 in USB mode and had no problem at all in upgrading to v118.
The SBS-3 now works fine on both machines in either USB or Ethernet.
As for ACARS logs, if you use my SBS3-ACARS-Display program which is part of my Display-Launcher freeware suite on www.rstools.info, you can generate much better ACARS logs than the SBS3 ones, in Airmaster format or as .csv files if required. (You will need to edit the Aircraft.csv and Flights.txt files to cover aircraft in your vicinity as my DB is based on Australian use).

Well I tried 3 or 4 times to upgrade to firmware 118 but it wouldn't have it. I connect by USB I don't use Ethernet.
