Title: Radar locations for Radar.txt file
Post by: Bethsalem on April 18, 2013, 12:51:26 PM
Hi All

I've managed to get Beamfinder working as I have identified six radars. I was hoping that someone might have their precise locations so that I can fine tune the accuracy of my Beamfinder results?

The radars are in the general area of:-

1. Marseille in France
2. Mont Ventoux in France
3. Grasse in France
4. Valdespina in Spain
5. Zaragoza in Spain
6. Palma in Spain

Many thanks for your help

Stephen

Mike, thanks for this.

Unfortunately the site doesn't give locations for any of these six radars  :(

If the sites are worth using , the radar tools in PP will give you an approx location

Then use google earth satellite view to find tha actual radar heads...right click..whats here...that gives you the exact lat long.

Thats how we had to find the original sites when  initially testing the facility

The ICAO docs dont give lat long...you have to do the equivalent of  a FOIA application...or the equivalent depending on which country you are in.

Of course there's more "Freedom of Information " in some countries than others !

Fantastic !!  Thanks a lot   :)

Regarding Roche-Yon, are you sure it is II-6?   I receive a lot of pings from that aprox location with SI-6 identifier.

Hi, I'm located in Valencia, Spain
I use a DVT-Dongle and RTL1090 version 3 to  feed to Flightradar24
From several days ago I'm receiving signals from planes that use SI-1 interrogator code

Does anyone know if there is a new station in Spain with that code near to my location?

Thanks in advance

Hi Conexia

Welcome to the Forum!

I'm up the coast from you near Reus. I too have encountered SI 1. For me it yields meaningless results that are impossible to use in a radar.txt file.

I might be wrong, but I suspect it's a radar site on the Algerian coast. Use PlanePlotter's "Radar site analysis" feature to get an approximate position and then see if Google Maps can do the rest : )

Yes, it could be an algerian radar. There's no SI-01 interrogator code allocated in any european country.

Have a word with Bev on the PP Yahoo Group , he is based in Portugal and uses the N African sites for his Beamfinder fixes...he may be able to help.
