Can anyone tell me why i'm not getting a silhouette when an operator flag isnt available? I've got most flags and silhouettes installed in the folders.
Thank you.
Couple of things to check:
1. Are you editing the aircraft record's Operator Flag field to reflect the relevant .bmp file name?
2. Ensure that all the files in your OperatorFlags folder are in .bmp format and not jpeg files saved with .bmp file extensions.

If i double click on the aircraft list, then click edit info i can manually enter the aircraft code and the silhouette appears. I am running the paid version of active display and every aircraft either has operator flag or silhouette if operator isn't available. I am under the impression the SBS gets the data from active display?
Probably, but as I don't use Active Display I can't say for certain.
I dont use AD either , so I do not know about the data exchange between AD and BS and its directory and SQB.
Would it help to go in BS to settings pulldown > reload > click flags to see recent additions
since BS is reading OperatorFlags otherwise only at startup
As I replied to your other post, Active Display will show both operator logos and aircraft type silhouettes. In your basestation.sqb database there are two fields - OperatorFlag and Type.
OperatorFlag may have BAW and Type A320.
AD will access both fields and display the logo image and type silhouette.
The Basestation aircraft list only displays the image linked to the name in OperatorFlag data field.
If that has BAW, you'll see the corresponding image from the OperatorFlags folder. If the field has A320 you'll see the corresponding image for that file, typically an A320 silhouette. It's either or.
Please read the Guide in the Guides section.
I don't want a flag and silhouette for each aircraft. I'd like a flag and a silhouette if the operator flag isn't available. Basestation just leaves the space blank if the operator flag isn't available.
You need to read Anmers guide - it's very good.
You need to populate your basestation.sqb file with appropriate silhouette.bmp names e.g. DA40 when that particular aircraft is received then a DA40 silhouette will appear in the aircraft list. The aircraft details box (the one you get from double clicking on a entry in the aircraft list) gets the silhouette name from the ICAOTypeCode and derives the operator flag from the callsign - or at least it does if you have an appropriate basestation.xsl file :)
Active display doesn't feed basestation (software) as such, but it does populate the basestation.sqb file so that can be represented as follows:
Basestation (software) <===> basestation.sqb (database) <===> Active Display
so Basestation (software) reads from and writes to the database, similarly Active Display does the same so the common link is the basestation.sqb file.
Active Display uses the same idea as the Aircraft Details box to get a flag and a silhouette.

Thanks Tim.
So I suppose that means I have to manually enter the codes as each one appears?
I do that with mine Craig.. i use the colored side profiles..

That's how mine is. the ones with silhouettes are ones i have edited manually. Suppose that's how it is then.

All my operator flags and silhouettes are in the same folder and they are all BMP files.....
Personal preference i guess.. i just like the aircraft outlines in place of the flags.. ;)

Basestation isn't as clever as Active Display.
You could run an SQL query now and again to place the Type code into the OperatorFlag field if it's empty. For example:
update aircraft set operatorflagcode = icaotypecode where operatorflagcode is null or operatorflagcode ="";
But please backup your Basestation.sqb file beforehand.
Smudger98, Where did you get those flags/silhouettes from?
Hi Craig,
From -
http://www.antonakis.co.uk/sbsflags/
Download as a single or batch of flags, side views or what ever your preference is.
Excellent site.. ;D
Or from the Kinetic forum site for recent single items or requests,
Do you have to log in to get the files?
Nope.. type in what ever you require.. eg- BAW and will give you the logo and aircraft types for that airline including side profiles etc.
When you go to the checkout it downloads what you have requested to an archive file, then you copy them into the flags folder.. it will not put anything into any folders unless YOU move it there.
try it and see.. it you select a couple and give it a whizz.. there is no charge either.. its free.. so dont be put off by the title of check out..
Smudger.
FYI..
Just don't rush the thing.. tick one and give it a few seconds to register.. then the next.. ;)
