It connects to Port 30003 from basestation and displays it on your Ipad
If you set up your port forarding you can watch your own traffic on your Ipad wherever you may be. All being well Apple will release it in a few days

Sorry if I seem a bit confused but being a bit slow about such things.

Do you need to have a Wi-Fi connection either at home or a Wi-Fi hotspot for this to work with the iPad ?

I think you will need an Internet connection, either WiFi or packet data.

Taylor Made RF have been working with Matthew Miller to bring a useful app for the Ipad

It is here https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sbs-viewer-hd/id663303728?ls=1&mt=8

This is not a Kinetic or Taylor Made RF product just an idea I gave to an app developer

When someone gets the chance, be interested to hear if it works with PP port 3003 and Basestation.sqb and no SBS hardware, maybe Beast etc.

SBS Viewer

Downloaded setup was very easy and using - nice app keen to see if does work remotely. As I work on an active airbase Im keen to see how correlates remotely.

Bit pricey for a not an overly exciting app, that is a speciality piece. So I hope there will be ongoing updates. Having said that Mr Miller has made probably one of the most fundamental and worthwhile steps in introducing this hobby on this particular platform (i.e. iPad) - Well done  8)

Remote works very well, just need to redirect your port on the router.

Works well but the number of aircraft in the list view seems much lower than the number visible on BS 62 versus 126  at present? I am currently using  my SBS 1 eR as I still haven't managed to operate SBS 3 with data sharing over MMS2.

Would be nice to have a blue dot for your location on the map am sure that will be for next update

There's an option in the info page to drop the developer an email. I have sent through a couple of items which he has added to his list.

Hmmm. I just bought this APP and although  I can get it to say it is "connected" I see nothing in the list or on the display. Are there other settings I need to look at ?
I have setup port forwarding for 30003 in my router. Strange thing is that my router IP is 192.168.2.1, the SBS-3 IP is 192.168.2.20, but my PC IP is 91.22.121.83 ! It will not connect if I put the IP addresses starting 192, but say it is connected when I use 91.22.121.83, also in Basestation the ports show 30006 on the first one, and for NMEA it shows 30007. I think I need to do some investigating now :(

I don't have an iPad so have not used this app.

But my guess is you need to tell it to connect to your public IP address (91.22.121.83?) having first setup port forwarding on your router for port 30003, forwarding to 192.168.2.nnn, being the local IP address of the PC running Basetation?

Hi Mike. Rather strangely I have got it work now by connecting to 192.168.2.7 which is listed as "Home" in my Router settings !

OK, I have uploaded my own Basestation.sqb file but I don't see any registrations when I select an aircraft on the display, nor do I see any in the "list". The HEX Code, Callsign and all other info shows. In the "Reg" column I only see "n/a" in every line.

In the app do you have to tell it where to find your sqb file?
Title: Re: sbs-3 iPHONE APP
Post by: Saudistu on July 16, 2013, 10:51:35 AM
It came with a .sqb file containing around 37000 entries. This also failed to show registrations. I have uploaded my own basestation.sqb file and it is still the same. There is also a file called database.sql on the file server that the APP uploads from/to. Maybe it is something to do with that, but I don't find any reference to that file on my PC.

I have uploaded the Basestation.sqb file from MANTMA. Same problem. Also just noticed the list doesn't show Aircraft Type and Country info either, but shows the Airline Logos. The other thing is it only shows aircraft with position info, therefore it is only as much use as the Flightradar24 APP that I already own ! Still, it was only 8 Euros and maybe one day it will be able to work correctly and show positionless aircraft in the list !

Well, it's all a learning curve ! Deleted all the files on the File Server and just uploaded my own Basestation.sqb and it now works. Hopefully eventually we will be able to "see" positionless aircraft in the list like with Basestation on the PC. Overall, I like it, but at the moment it is only like having a cut down version of the Flightradar24 APP, taking into account you only "see" your own area.

If the APP can be upgraded to show positionless in the list before I go to the U.S next January it would be appreciated ;)

Glad you got it working Saudistu   :)

The BaseStation.sqb file must be named exactly as the original file on the server, i.e with a capital B and S

I have a feature request list which is building nicely. Once I have a few common requests I will add these to the iPad version and also the iPhone version. The iPhone version will be released after next iPad update.

Thanks,

Thanks for the info Matt. Are any of the requests you have so far received related to showing positionless aircraft in the "Aircraft List", or to having a "User" column same as in Basestation ?

Regds......Stu

Yes Stu, I've had a couple of other requests to include position-less aircraft in the list. Hopefully this will be included in the next iPad update before the iPhone version comes out.

Before doing any updates I wanted to give it a while so start building a list. I'm hoping to setup a forum section some where so there is a central place for feature requests.

Cheers and thanks again for the suggestions and support guys!

Hi Guys,

The iPhone version for SBS Viewer is now released...

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/sbs-viewer/id730372252

I can now start on updates for iPad. :-)

Sorry for delay, I had other contracts I had to finish first.

Thanks,

Matt
