My Setup
SBS-1E using win7, xport ver 1.6.0.2, was using a USB lead, but now trying to connect using a Virgin Super Hub so I can move the box closer to the aerial and be able to use it on the network.
My Problem
IP Address Range
Local IP Address 192.168.0. EM IP Address 192.168.1.170
I have been following Anmer sbs1_networking Guide to try and change the ip address in my sbs
All seems to be ok till I reach the point in the guide were it asks to Select Settings under Channel 1 on the left-hand menu and check the Local Port reads 10001.
When I input 10001 and press ok I get a message pop up saying (Remote Port: contains invalid characters. Valid Characters are 0-9.) I have tryed entering a random number say 0 then I get another window pop up saying Inactivity Timeout(min): contains invalid characters. Valid characters are 0-9. I have tried entering 60 & 0 in the box.
Which it accepts but then another window pops up saying Remote Host: Undefined: Undefined: Undefined is not a valid IP address.
I have no idea what that means so thought best to try to get some help.

Dave

Hi Anmer
Sorry got totally confused as to which forum you were referring to in your PM earlier.
Regards
Dave
What stage have you got to? Are you on Page 7 of the Guide?
Please note is says:
"Select Connection under Channel 1 on the left-hand menu and check the Local Port reads 10001"
Yep followed the The Guide from page 7.
I have attached some screen shoots of the setting I have used hope this helps.
The problem seems to be the Local Port under Channel 1 tab is empty as I understand it that should show the port number without me manually entering it hope that makes sense.
Thanks
Dave

I'm not sure why you are making changes to your router's port forwarding if all you're trying to do is make the SBS-1e compatible with your local network IP address range?
You have two options.
1. Set your UP address range to 192.168.1.nnn
or
2. Change the SBS-1e IP address from 192.168.1.170 to 192.168.0.170
Port forwarding isn't involved.
Option 1 can be easier than Option 2. The Guide explains how to implement Option 2.
Hi
Update on my problem
I found that one of my main problems was using Google Chrome as soon as I tried programming xport with Firefox it all went to plan and I could changed the IP address as per the guide.
I can now ping the SBS new IP Address 192.168.0.170 and it also shows connected in the device connection status of my router.
But after doing all that when I start the Basestation program I get no orange connected light and the not connected to SBS message at the bottom of the screen.
Any help would be very appreciated I have run out of ideas as to why it not connecting.
Thanks
Dave

What network address do you have in Basestation Settings?
Basestation Network Address: 192.168.0.170
Port: 10001

Dave
Thanks.
And you can Ping 192.168.0.170 and get a return?
And the SBS is connected via Ethernet and you have chosen Network as the connection?
Hi Anmer
Thanks for the quick response (Yes to all of your questions )
I have even connected it up to another PC today but still get the same problem of not been able to connect to the Basestation
Thanks
Dave
SBS now working with the help of Chris Taylor from Taylor Made RF Ltd.
The SBS just needed resetting back to default, after which I reset the IP back to 192.168.0.170 and it connect to the Basestation software straight away
Thanks
Dave
Thanks for the update.
I too could have resolved the issue if you'd replied to my posts.

Since I do have a similar (or better: the same) problem currently: How exactly did you reset the SBS?

Can you describe your problem and how it has occurred?
Sorry for the late reply, had lots of work and simply forgot about this thread :-/
Okay, what happened:
I was changing my whole network configuration, so I had to change the IP of my SBS1 (er) as well.
Accessing the Lantronix webinterface I saw lots of "undefined" and "NaN" entries, but I changed the settings anyway.
Afterwards I was not able to access the box via Basestation or MMS2 client, the webinterface worked, but still with NaN / Undefined entries.
So what I did was upgrading the Lantronix firmware. Now the webinterface is showing all correct entries, but still no luck with connecting Basestation / MMS2.
This only happens while connecting via ethernet, USB works just fine.
So I guess it's something between the Lantronix interface and the SBS hardware.
I did not try shortly before I changed my network config, so I cannot be sure if it worked then (didn't use the box for a month or so).
I disconnected and reconnected the box from power several times, this does not solve it.
Any ideas?
Oliver.
I think you need to reset the Lantronix interface back to the default SBS IP address of 192.168.1.170.
I can email you a utility but you may subsequently have to change the IP address if the default ins't compatible with your local network.
Hi Anmer,
thanks, but did not help.
I changed the IP of the SBS back to 192.168.1.170 / 255.255.255.0
Does your utility do anything else? (if so, it should be no problem, network is 192.168.1.0/24)
What I found with the MMS2 client: While Basestation is running, it cannot connect:
14:41:35 | [reader][i][0]Connecting to SBS1 receiver on 192.168.1.170:10001
14:41:36 | [reader][e][0]Could not connect to 192.168.1.170
and after closing BS:
14:41:41 | [reader][i][0]Connecting to SBS1 receiver on 192.168.1.170:10001
14:41:41 | [reader][i][0]Connected to the receiver, authenticating
that's where it's stuck (except for the session ratio messages).
Anything else? Could it be some settings in the serial section?
I've emailed you the utility (Zip). It is a large file so let me know if it doesn't arrive.
The email has full instructions.
It got back to you.
How large is it?
I will send you an alternate address via PM.
Not sure what the utility did (changed some other values besides Network), but it works!
Thank you so much for your help :)
The utility sets the Lantronix device back to the Kinetic default settings.
when connecting sbs-1e via network does it have to be powered by plug or usb..

From memory you can either use a USB cable or a DC power supply.
Make sure the slider switches are set to Use Ethernet and Use USB power.
ok thank you... anmer
what is the difference if its usb or internet...and should the connection from internet to sbs-1e just keep connecting then disconnect.?
ok i have connected the usb to phone plug it seems to be ok..for now anyway

By connecting the SBS to your local network you can run BaseStation on any Windows device that can connect to the network. The SBS can be far away from the PC.
ok ..Anmer
thanks for reply i thaught it might give you more distance for aircraft on the base
station....

No, you won't see more aircraft. But it does give you the option to place the SBS and antenna in a (potentially) more favourable location, such as a loft. Then connect via Ethernet to a network access point which could be WiFi enabled.
