Title: Network problem?
Post by: pairair on October 09, 2013, 08:23:08 AM
Hi!

First post here. I'm trying to set up a PP ground station. Location is middle southern Sweden. I'm having major problems getting things to work. I've attached a number of images showing my settings in PP, router port forwarding etc

Presumably there is a port forwarding problem, but I just can't figure it out...

Sharer id hW, if I ever get it up running...

Regards,
Per

Hi Per,

Have you set your modem for port forwarding for PP?

Hi Tom,

Yes, if you look at the picture, second from bottom, in my first post there is a screenshot from my router port forwarding setup.
Router is a Netgear WNDR4500

Best,

Per,

You need to download a port forwarding test app to make sure your port forwarding is working. The one I use can be found here: http://portforward.com/help/portcheck.htm

Make sure PP is not running when you use it.

Tom

Do you have a firewall blocking?

As Viking9 says, check the port forwarding.  Is it being forwarded to the IP address of the PC running PP?

Per,

That looks OK to me.

I'm just wondering - do you not have to be an MU to forward data?

Tom

I'm sure the networking test should still work even if not a MU.

You could be right Mike - it's so long since I did it.  :)

I've tried disabling both windows firewall and zonealarm, no success.
Strange thing is that on maybe two or three occasions the raw data in and raw data out has worked. But then when I try it a second time it doesn't...

Per,

If it works at all it should be OK. How many local aircraft are you seeing?

If I were you I would apply for GS and see what John makes of it. He is very helpful.

Do you need to enter anything in those external starting and ending port boxes? Just leave them blank?

After all you are only interested in allowing the incoming ports.

Might not be the reason but try anyway.

Hi Ian

Well, it seems that it's the external ports that you define in the router port forwarding setup. Then it is presumed that the internal ports are the same, unless otherwise stated.

Anyways, i've got it working now. But only after disabling windows firewall. Not too happy about that...
If anyone would be so kind and share the Inbound Rules and Outbound Rules" regarding PP in the advanced" firewall settings, it'd be much appreciated!

Windows 7 here.

Thanks alot,
Per

Per,

Have a look here on how to allow specific programs through Windows firewall.
