Title: My mate deserves a Darwin Award
Post by: Sun Worshipper on October 21, 2013, 04:03:54 PM
Ok, how stupid can you get.

A mate of mine wanted to restore his 5th gen Ipod touch back to Factory settings and enlisted the help of a complete moron (no, not me) who managed to wipe all of the icons from the front screen.

Anyone have any idea how he can restore them??

Has he tried plugging it in to his PC and logging in to his account on iTunes ?

If he clicks on Devices there is an option listed  to restore ipod

Are there no icons at all, not even for the default apps, such as App Store?

Previously purchased apps can be downloaded free of charge if he/she uses the same iTunes account.

Nope not even the default factory fitted APPS.  If your are going to screw up you might as well go big!

I suggested he contacted Apple via the web which he is doing.

That only works if you have done a backup to start.

Well, I don't know how Apple got him to do it but they have successfully helped him get back all the default icons.  I would love to have been a fly on the wall watching the messages flowing to and fro, I expect the Apple man must have been tearing his hair out in utter frustration.

All's well that ends well :)
