I will see if I can find out more about setting up port forwarding for this router.

You need to login to your router using the default gateway.
Go to the start menu -> Accessories -> Command Prompt
type ipconfig
Note the default gateway
open your browser, in the address bar type in the default gateway ip address - like 192.168.1.254 --- or whatever the IP is.

That should open your router config pages... if it asks you for a user name and password... default usernames depend on your ISP usually, but try for the username Admin, admin, Administrator, administrator and for the password try the same as the username or leave blank... If you have no luck contact your ISP for logging on details.

A web page will open - go to
Toolbox
Game And Application Sharing
At top right click configure
Make sure UPnP and Extended Security are selected if you have those options
Then at the bottom
Create a New Game or Application
from there you just need to select which protocols you need to work with or select ANY
Enter the port you want opened
and add the same port number to the destination / trigger port.

That should be you.

Thanks Mike

Do you have this make/model router?  APO was telling me he can't see the SBS-1 in the list of attached devices.

Hi Mike

No i dont have this model, someone i know local had one and had many problems setting it up, sometimes the router wont store details and a full reset is required.

The details listed are the last way that took the settings for forwarding for plane plotter, so should work for anything else.

Yes i know and found that : http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Thomson-Alcatel/TG585v7/Piolet.htm
But at the last stage : "lick the Assign a game or application to a local network device link near the bottom of the page."
then "Use the Device box to choose a computer to forward ports to. This box contains a list of computer names that are visible on your network.
Select the application you created using the Game or Application drop down box. Then click Add to enable it."
, i didn't find SBS-1 on "Device" list...

Is the SBS-1 connected by Ethernet cable to the router?

You can ping the IP address of the SBS-1 but still it doesn't appear in the list of attached devices.  That is strange.

Maybe I can remote connect and take a look with you?

Hi Anmer,
I Have had this Thomson TG585 V7 for a few years with no problems running SBS-1 and Planeplotter, I have had a look at my router settings and SBS- is not listed. The previous reply by MHM is as I recall the way I set planeplotter up. Hope this has not confused the ploblem.

OK i understood the way port forwarding works with a Local PC and Planeplotter in the same LAN...my problem is that the SBS-1 is not listed on "Device" list of router(SBS-1 and router in same LAN)...so that SBS-1 data(from 192.168.1.170) can forwarding via router port 10001 to the internet

Thanks Tony.

With my Netgear router I forward port data to a PC's IP address rather than the physical device and maybe that's where the Alcatel's configuration is confusing?
