From Bev at COAA:
Hi,
PlanePlotter version 6.4.1.8 is now available for download following
the link on the PlanePlotter web site.
http://www.planeplotter.com#download
---Usual boilerplate---
Updates are free to registered users.
You may need to exercise your browser Refresh function to force it to show you the new version of the PlanePlotter web page. If you post a message saying that the web site is still pointing to an earlier version, you pay a forfeit !
You can install the new version over the old one but you *must* close/exit PlanePlotter before installing the new one. Your settings will be preserved. If you post a message saying that the installer is unable to replace planeplotter.exe, it means that you did not close PP first and you pay a forfeit !
! If you have a version-specific firewall (eg Zone Alarm), you may have to reassure it that the new version is permitted to access the Internet.

New in version 6.4.1.8 - in no particular order
Message rate meter
There is now an extra meter range with maximum 10000 msgs/sec for those users fortunate enough to find the previous maximum of 5000 per second too little.
Outline maps
Outline maps now plot vectors off the edge of the screen instead of only up to the last coordinate before the edge. In most situations this should mean that coastlines, national boundaries, etc. now reach the edge of the window rather than stopping short.
Signal strength when using Malcolm's dump1090 for Windows
I have changed the default data port when using dump1090 for windows to 30005, which includes signal strength. You can now enable signal strength on the chart or see! it in the View..Aircraft window.

You're correct, the site still shows 6.4.1.7.
Perhaps Bev is on a "go slow"?
Not as old as us two is he ;D

Updated, but I still can't see signal strength.

A few years past, you could save a lot of CPU time by not drawing the map lines that were not in the view. I made this an optional parameter on my viewer, as I had an old XP machine with small RAM.
If your CPU suddenly goes to 80% when you move around the map, you'll know it's time for a better graphics board, or more RAM.
I got rid of my last windows box many moons ago, so now I only have to fight with Ubuntu problems now :-)
I updated and it works : I can see signal strenght with windows dump1090.
But I am lost now : how can this work ? ???
In the dump1090.bat :
dump1090.exe --interactive --net --net-ro-port 30002 --net-beast --mlat --modeac
In planeplotter : RTL dongle PC dump 1090 - Setup TCP client :
127.0.0.1:30005
The ports are different ?
It is Saturday 6 A.M. : Am I still sleeping ?
The new version forces port 30005 irrespective of the details in the bat file.
Thanks for that John.
