Hi,
PlanePlotter version 6.4.1.9 is now available for download following
the link on the PlanePlotter web site.
http://www.planeplotter.com#download
---Usual boilerplate---
Updates are free to registered users.
You may need to exercise your browser Refresh function to force it to
show you the new version of the PlanePlotter web page. If you post a
message saying that the web site is still pointing to an earlier
version, you pay a forfeit !
You can install the new version over the old one but you *must*
close/exit PlanePlotter before installing the new one. Your settings
will be preserved. If you post a message saying that the installer is
unable to replace planeplotter.exe, it means that you did not close
PlanePlotter first and you pay a forfeit !
If you have a version-specific firewall (eg Zone Alarm), you may have
to reassure it that the new version is permitted to access the Internet.
-----------
New features in no particular order:
Open AIP
PlanePlotter will display the content of any AIP files obtained from
the OpenAIP system and placed in the specified PlanePlotter chart
directory. To download the country files, which include airspace
restrictions, airports, and navigational aids for many countries, you
need to register with http://www.openaip.net/ The AIP information
will appear as an overlay on any chart or outline display within
PlanePlotter. You are encouraged to contribute data to the OpenAIP
system if there is any information lacking in your area.
Airframes.org changes
This version handles the recent format changes in www.airframes.org
so that automatic updating of the database should again function correctly.
FLARM data
This version of PlanePlotter displays the FLARM data from
Glidernet. It is used with the kind permission of the owners. It
shows the position of gliders that are FLARM-equipped and within
range of a user who is suitably equipped. If you have a suitable
receiver and live near a gliding site, you are encouraged to set up a
system to contribute data to Glidernet. You can enable and disable
FLARM data in Options..Sharing..Setup. The control affects both
chart displays and the aircraft information display.
Chart conditional expressions
Aircraft filtering on the chart using the conditional expressions
feature now also applies to the data exported to Google-Earth.
Setup Wizard
The Setup Wizard now includes configuration for Malcolm's "Dump1090
for Windows" interface for dongle receivers.
TCAS alerts
If a TCAS alert identifies the threat as well as the aircraft
detecting the threat, then both aircraft are now shown in the Alert
box and highlighted on the chart display.
Mlat calibration aircraft
The navigational accuracy (NUC-P) given in position reports is now
used to restrict those aircraft that might be used as calibration
aircraft in multilateration.
There is still a long list of additional features that I want to add
to PlanPlotter but I thought it expedient to release these new
features now rather than wait any longer for more of the list to be completed.
I would normally send this release note out as a Yahoo "Special
Notice" but for some days I have been unable to access the Yahoo
groups pages so I am sending it as a normal post by email. If anyone
has any ideas on how to restore my access to Yahoo groups, I would be
glad to hear from them. The symptom is that the page
http://groups.yahoo.com/ simply never opens.

Updated without problems as is normal and new features are appreciated.
The help file provided often seems to lag behind new features, there's no mention of how to use the AIP for instance.
A bit of poking around revealed some new menu options under 'Options|Chart|OpenAIP Overlay' but it would be nice if the help file could keep pace with the software releases.
I do appreciate the regular updates!
Cheers,
Keef.
It's simple:
1.- Register at http://www.openaip.net/, you need it to get access to downloads section.
2.- Download the files you need: airports, airspaces, navaids... Get the .aip format version. Place them on your PP's chart folder.
3.- Options...Chart...OpenAIP overlay
4.- Refresh your chart or overlay view.
I like this feature, but OpenAIP needs some update work at least in my zone.
and how can i get the FLARM data in?
Into what?
from my dongle into pp
To the best of my understanding you have to feed the data into the Glider Network which is then available to the PP server:
http://wiki.glidernet.org/faq
In PP, open Help, type FLARM, click search and follow the instructions. If you tick the right box it works - assuming you are running the version of PP that includes this feature of course.
Plus as Anmer says, it does require someone to be feeding FLARM data into PP from your area.

In PP, open Help, type FLARM
That confirms (to me) that PP only shows FLARM data from Glidernet and that it's not possible to receive local FLARM data from one's own receiver and display directly in PP. I my be wrong?
The option 'Enable FLARM' displays targets from the FLARM network for gliders. The data for this display comes from the Glidernet system used here with permission. http://wiki.glidernet.org/ You are encouraged to contribute to this network using your own FLARM-capable receiver if you are near to a gliding site.

Sorry Tim, I made my post before I read your edited one.
Mike,
My apologies to you, you are corrrect, I should have added the words "feeding FLARM data into Glidernet from your area" when I edited my post and not, as I inferred, directly into PP.
Tim
ok thx thats a ssshhhtttt i have a bad network connection and take only my own data.
