Next year's Waddington International Air Show has been cancelled due to a £35m rebuild of the runway.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the investment would extend the runway's operational life by a further 25 years.

This of course could have been done at any time of the year. But NO it has to be done on this week.

Really? You've been involved in planning 59 week refurbishments of runways then, have you?

How would the timing of the cancellation announcement impact on the refurbishment timeline?

I don't quite understand your question, Mike. I didn't suggest the cancellation announcement would impact on the timeline. There are 52 weeks in a year, so no matter when you planned to start a 59 week refurbishment of the runway you would have to cancel at least one annual air show.
Sorry Tom, I read mhm's post wrongly and thought the reference was to the timing of the announcement. My error.
Reading it again I can see he was probably referring to the timing of the work not the announcement in which case your comment was valid.
No probs, Mike. ;D
