Radarspotting

Hi all,

Here is my question re two dongles.

I have an old desktop PC upstairs not in use (runs Windows XP) and thinking of putting two dongles on to the desktop.

Does any one if this will work.

As an aside of this, if I tape an antenna to window on either side of the building will this pick up better?

Also what is the maximum length of cable between the antenna and the dongle?

can anyone suggest a better (cheap) antenna that will do this?

I used to run two dongles, a GNS and a transponder mouse at the same time on my 10 year old PC with XP.
Using RTL1090, adsbscope and Planeplotter to collect the data.
But your hardware may be different.

It is not a good idea to increase the antenna cable lenght of a dongle.
These are usually fixed to reduce the signal loss.
Instead consider using USB extension cables, active ones if you need more than 2-3m extension.
I have a 10m active USB cable to my roof. There it connects t a powered USB hub.

Ideally the antenna should be on the outside, but using both sides of the building will definetely increase your coverage in both directions.
