Maybe my SBS1 is just worn out, but this morning after I connected I have no aircraft displayed. It was OK working overnight and took in to the office as only a couple of miles from Hamburg Airport and a lovely clear day (I am working as well). Have all the usual red, orange, green and blue LED's and haven't changed any settings that I know of. Going out to Far East soon so hope this is not terminal for my trusted black box.
Many thanks for any assistance anybody can provide

Daft question.. but.. is the red box button set to select only single aircraft but nothing selected ?
There are no daft questions as I'm generally classified as computer illiterate. But the answer is no, interested only is also off.
I've tried switching USB ports. I don't run any add-ons and populate base-station reporter manually. Everything looks normal apart from there appears to be no aircraft flying, as I watch a banner being flown past Piper Cub!!!
I meant my daft question..
Not got my box in front of me but...
Is the basestation reporter pointing to the right location / folders ?
All seems to be normal, it was working fine in my hotel, shut everything down, walked to the office, plugged it all back in and all started normally. connected to SBS appeared and I waited for aircraft to start appearing on the display but nothing.
Hi
Why don't you give Chris Taylor a call he's the guy to give you help.

Tom
Will give him a try when office workload drops down a bit. Just ordered a puck from him anyway, hopefully it will be easier when travelling. Maybe should have just left it in the hotel and tried not to be clever and trying to spotting and working at the same time.
Sounds like a similar problem to mine (the Win8 thread below this one).
Anmer was quite right, the drivers seemed to have disappeared in my case, so one double click and it was working again.
Ian
this is cut n paste of what fixed my ancient SBS-1
---------
You're probably missing the USB drivers.
Do you a a file in your BaseStation folder - "CDM20802_Setup.exe"
If you have double click on this to install the drivers.
-----
I don't have the exact same file but I do have CDM2.04.16 so double-clicked on that and now it works.
Just tried that but no luck, now considering removing and reinstalling.
Check the antenna connection. Are there any aircraft in the list on the right of BaseStation?
Nothing in the aircraft list to the right and nothing in basestation reporter for all the sessions I have tried today (20 times) last session with any aircraft was when it was running overnight in my hotel. Shut down basestation and laptop, took it to work and started again 30 minutes later, but no aircraft shown.
Just I thing might be possible. Have you run it successfully in your office before?, If not, is there possibly something in the office location/invironment that might be blocking signals?
Regards
Mike
Not had a problem running in the office before, when returned to hotel last night and tried again but still no aircraft showing up. Its a nice clear day and can visually see plenty passing overhead and departing HAM.
You mentioned you had blue led's on, how many and do the number of led's change. If you unplug the aerial do the blue led's go out ?
Have you tried running the sbs1linktester. ?
Paul
PS - Basestation has a debug screen, does that give any clues ?
Sorry for late reply, dealing with work problems down-under. Single blue LED on, no difference with or without aerial, LED does look to be flickering light/dark.
That sounds to me like a failure within the SBS, I suggest a call to Chris Taylor on 020 8953 3861 he may be able to advise.
Good Luck
Paul
I did think it would be my poor old black box finally giving up the ghost. I have a puck being delivered this week, can I plug and play with 1.2.3.179 software version or will I need to install later version?
I will be home later in the week and will try the SBS on my old laptop and see if it works, if no, I will give Chris Taylor a call.
I need something working as due to travel to HKG next week and take a vessel up to Japan calling in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.
Not sure, I would have thought it should be ok
I have a puck and am using version 183
184 is the latest available, you should only need the executable anyway so just back up 179 before copying over the latest 184 executable.
I just copied over the 183 executable when I upgraded from 175 with no problems.
Paul
Sorry I've been away for a very long weekend in London.
Have you tried running SBS1LinkTester.exe which you'll find in the BaseStation folder?
Link test successfully completed, toggle debug carried out, can't see anything that stands out as a problem.
Is the antenna connection on the back of the box loose
Do you have access to another antenna? And as mhm has asked, is the antenna connection loose?
The BNC connection broke off years ago (bad weather Japan Sea) and the terminal were just connected by soldered wire, its worked like that for about 3-4 years. It's possible internally something has broken but can't check until I get home on Wednesday.
Thanks to all who inputted, I got home to find new 1090 Puck waiting. Plugged it in using SBS1 software and away we go. Great coverage even just sitting in the house. Therefore we have to assume there is a problem with my old SBS, most probably something to do with aerial connection internally.
Be careful mentioning ships on this forum!! :D

30 years at sea, now a superintendent. SBS has been a godsend for the hobby, the days of watching lines of aircraft arriving and departing in places like NY, HKG, etc just beyond binocular range has now gone.
I swallowed the anchor just before I was replaced by GMDSS. Spent the rest of my career in aviation, with over 20 years involvement in flight simulator engineering. Now enjoying retirement and more time to watch aeroplanes.

Which flight simulator you involved in ?
Delta wings or long wings type ?
