Hi All
I have just joined the group and I am hoping someone can help me.
SBS1 user for 7.5 years, never had any real issues, learnt quite a lot but not an expert !
I leave my SBS on 24/7 as I feed into FR24 etc.
On a regualr basis recently I have come home to find the grey error screen, I have fixed this by reloading an older sqb file and then rebooted succesfully, however, this had been happening about twice a week recently.
Got home yesterday and no error on the screen but no aircraft !
Tried to reload a previous version of sqb but still no aircraft, all my outlines etc are there but no planes !
I am sure this has been covered on the forum many times before but as I am new to the group I am hoping someone can point me in right direction.
I am not keen on restalling the software and starting again as I have 50,000 aircraft in my 2.4GB sqb
It almost feels like the file is getting too big and crashing ?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Ian
Hi Ian..
The chap who is the wizz (Anmer/Mike) is at Farnborough to-day so should be here later on - can you please furnish him a few details like system used. W-8,XP 32bit/64 bit etc and the version of Basestation being used etc..
Cheers,
Smudger.
Ian, this is just the same problem that I am suffering No aircraft displayed), though I've had no earlier problems. All looks good, all my added waypoints and outlines are displayed, just no aircraft. All my LED's red, orange, green, and blue are lit. I've just tried 'Metty' fix about the USB driver but no luck.
It's odd we're all having the same problems with our legacy SBS-1s! As Smudger says, sit tight and wait for Mike to get in, have a cuppa, finish his underlining from EGLF and I'm sure he'll sort it out.... :)
Ian & Steve: If the fixes happen off-forum pls can you post the fix to the forum, ta
I've just tried a system restore, which will probably get me shot by the IT guy on Monday, but still nothing. Guess its just have to be the trusty old binoculars only at HAM over the weekend rather than sitting on hotel balcony.
Just so we can compare. I have Win 7 professional, service pack 1. Basestation 1.2.3.179. No problems since installed on this laptop in October last year. SBS 6 years old, well abused as I was a seafarer until last year so its been through a few storms and flown across my cabin on more than one occasion.

Just a little patience please guys... all will come right in the end.. Even the boss needs a day off..
In the mean time take a copy of the sqb and outlines etc..just in case... ;)
As there seems a common theme here.. have you run BMP file checker ? to see if there is a corrupt flag in the file that may have been down loaded...?
I have just got come tried again and nothing.
So as a test I have moved my sqb and restarted the SBS, this has obviously started a brand new sqb and aircraft now appearing and being decoded via ADL.
Which is good news, I guess it must mean that my original sqbs of which I kept about 20 wont work !
Is there a size limit ?
Mine were about 2.4GB and had over 50,000 records (7.5 years worth)
Thanks to you all that have replied so far, still keen to be able to get my 'old' sqbs working but will probably leave the 'new' one running to build up a secondary database.
Ian
I haven't seen any problems myself despite my sqb holding 57719 records and is 2.7gb in size
Forgive my lack of knowledge but what are sqbs and where do I find them?

The basestatiion.sqb is the database for basestation and holds all the info that it uses.. most are located in your folder that holds all the basestaion files - the exe files, BS reporter files etc. If you installed basestation to a named folder on your C drive.. do a search for basestation.sqb and you will find all the files for that.. or thats the theory..
I have continued to populate a brand new sqb and over 2,000 aircraft in the first 24 hours.
I did succesfully reload a version of my 50,000 record sqb earlier and it seemed to work ok but I am pretty sure in a few days it would have 'crashed' again, would really like to know why this is happening.
In the meantime I will continue to build up my new sqb, hopefully this one wont crash if it does the must be rogue entry or file in both files

You can run a test on your SQB file
Download and install a copy of SQLiteSpy
Use Wordpad or notepad and type or copy and paste in the following
PRAGMA integrity_check;
Create a directory, mine's called Database test
save the wordpad or notepad into that directory has Pragma Check.sql
then copy your Basestation.sqb file to the Directory you've created.
Run SQLiteSpy
File Open Database
Files of type - any file
Select Basestation.sqb
File open SQL
Select Pragma Check.sql
Execute sql
It may take a minute or two to run depending on how big the file is and how quick the pc is.
But it should then return the message - OK
Or it will show any errors that its found
Good luck
Paul
Replying to Smudger98. Ran search for basestation.sqb but nothing found!! Are they anything to do with the .bkk files?
In my absence others have suggested the existing sqb file may have been corrupted and it sound like it was.
Finding and fixing any corruption is a painful process. And finding what is causing it, usually data imported from elsewhere.
As just starting using new puck with out changes to any software it must be my SBS1 that has 'met it's maker'
