Title: East Midlands Airport admits queue problems at arrivals
Post by: mhm on August 20, 2014, 12:55:07 PM
East Midlands Airport has admitted it has problems with queuing at arrivals after passengers complained of lengthy delays getting back into the country.

Holiday-goers said they were forced to wait in the rain for up to an hour as passports were checked.

The airport said it needed to make improvements to speed up the process, including "the right number of staff".

Not so - from experience the queues pictured in the BBC article seem to be typical. probably a consequence of bad scheduling: 2 x Ryanair, 1 x Jet2, 1 x Thomas Cook all arriving within minutes of each other in mid-afternoon.

Last time I arrived there in June, the ePassport scanners were not working so even more delays.

And don't get me started about the current departure cattle shed "lounge" with restricted facilities and space while they expand the airport. Hopefully by September things will have improved.

I certainly wouldn't like to have used East Midlands during the current school holidays - add in the chaos of rebuilding and you get the current headlines.

EMA happens to be my local airport so I can just about live with it to avoid my experience this year with Manchester!
