Title: PP failing to start....registry 'utility' help please
Post by: Metty on November 19, 2014, 08:27:56 PM
I have a PP that won't start on my Win 8.1 laptop.

I notice that on http://www.coaa.co.uk/planeplottersupport.htm there appears to be the solution to my problem, a helpful 'utility' to cure a registry problem that prevents PP from starting.

Whilst it may be totally obvious to some what is being shown to me, I have little idea what I'm supposed to do with what I'm looking at.  The 'you need to do this' bit of help is absent....what may well be a utility is only a utility if one knows what to do with it....

Do I cut and paste the text after
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\COAA\PlanePlotter]
into what shows when I do regedit on my machine?  Or.....

I just thought I'd ask you understanding and friendly folk on here before I do something silly!!

Many thanks
Metty

Hi Metty,

If the "utility" is PPRegFix.reg then you need to save that into your main PP folder (actually it should already be there) and then locate it and run it (double click it) it will then sort out any registry problems you may be having which will hopefully resolve the start-up problem.

If I'm missing which utility you are referring to - please reply here.

Yes it's regfix.  Yes it was already there the PP folder, I've double clicked and I am now up and running!

Many thanks for the extremely speedy resolution.  I'm a happy bunny now, time for a drink and a donation to the cause.

cheers!
