Title: British plane spotters arrested in United Arab Emirates
Post by: mhm on March 02, 2015, 09:26:16 PM
Three British plane spotters have been arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over allegations of suspicious behaviour.

The men from Greater Manchester and another expat have been told they were arrested because of "national security", one family member said.

Conrad Clitheroe, 54, Gary Cooper, 45, and Neil Munro were reportedly taking notes near Fujairah Airport, about 80 miles (130km) from Dubai.

They were arrested on 22 February.

Yes, these days I tend to do my spotting from home, within the terminal building while arriving or departing, or in the privacy of my hotel/villa/apartment.

This is not the first time and not the last time people got arrested for plane spotting.

Sometime ago, someone got arrested for using telescope and scanner radio in a hotel balcony - while he was watching planes landing / taking off from a nearby airport .

Looks like these people threw cautions into the cross-wind ( puns intended ).
