Title: Problem with RTLxxx dongle, dump1090 and VirtualRadar
Post by: RicksRadio on May 22, 2015, 12:55:52 AM
I have successfully used my RTLxxx dongle with dump1090 and VirtualRadar to decode local traffic. Primarily aircraft in and out of Vancouver and Seattle. In addition, I have also been able to decode input from sdrsharp.com.   I have been able to combine these two data streams with the "Merged Feeds" function in VRS. I just can't find it!

The way I look at it there are 2 options.

    1) I attempt to get dump1090 to take the local data directly to sdrsharp.com on port 47806, or
    2) I use the VirtualRadar "Merged Feeds" function and combine/display the data locally

With Option #1 I haven't figured out what programme parameters are needed to get dump1090 to talk directly to the server on a specific IP address and port.

With option #2 I haven't figured out how to send the Merged Feed to my local screen.  "Merged Feed" seems to be abandon in the ether?

Although either of these will meet my needs option #1 shares my data with others.

Any insight and/or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick
(PS:  My OS is Linux)

SUCCESS.  I got it going using the merged field!
