I have been a spotter for many years (60) with a break when I  joined the army, but took up the hobby upon my return to civilian life.
I do mainly Radar spotting now using the AirNav RadarBox with an outside antenna. Being on the coast is a bit of a bonus as I pick up most of the east & west bound flights.
