Title: Mobile mlat
Post by: peted on October 02, 2015, 09:31:40 PM
Hi,
Is it possible to receive mlat by subscription as I am unable to be a provider of data, & receive by the use of an EE MiFi 4g device from different locations whilst travelling about the country , also including trips to Europe(via 3 dongle) I assume I could not receive via free WiFi hotspots.
Thanks

Pete

There are many options.

You could pay for a PlanePlotter Master User annual subscription in addition to the one-off PlanePlotter licence fee.

Or invest in a low cost DVB-T and Raspberry Pi to feed FlightAware which will show you local MLAT plots.  Or join one of the private MLAT groups.

I use a MiFi when away and it provides the same connectivity as a wired WAN.  But PlanerPlotter may need some tweaking.

Or feed FR24 in the same way and get a free premium account. I used the FR24 app on my phone during a trip to the USA this year which provided mlat data at airports - essential given the number of ERJ190 without ADSB.

Sorry, should have explained, I already have a Kinectic Puck & run both Basestation & Planeplotter, but would like to receive Mlat via a mifi device whilst away, but am unable to feed into fr24 for any period of time.

Except that FR24 doesn't display all MLAT plots whereas FlightAware does,
