Title: PlanePlotter and Proxy Servers
Post by: Anmer on April 12, 2016, 08:31:19 AM
Message from Bev at COAA:

Hi

The large number of users are arriving at the PlanePlotter server via a common proxy server so their correct IP address is not being recorded. This means that none of the peer-to-peer stuff will work including hypersharing and multilateration. Several of them are validated Ground Stations but obviously they do not work in this condition.

If you are a GS but persistently fail PlanePlotter..Help..Test networking check GS/MU status at the very first test, but believe you have correctly configured port forwarding, please consider changing your DSN server as follows.

Here is the fix (courtesy of an earlier post on this group).

1. Control Panel
2. Network and Internet
3. Network and Sharing Centre - view Network status and tasks
4. Change adapter settings (on the left)
5. Right click on your Wi-Fi/internet connection and click Properties
6. Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) (you MAY need to scroll down) and click Properties at the bottom
7. Under General tab click the option "Use the following DNS server addresses"
8. Alongside Preferred DNS server put 8.8.8.8
9. Alongside Alternate DNS server put 8.8.4.4
10. Press OK and close relevant windows

Please do that to restore normal operation.
