Title: Flarm

Message from Bev at COAA:

Hi

As the FLARM network is continuing to expand, the method that PP used to create pseudo hex codes to distinguish these aircraft, is no longer sufficient.

Previously, gliders were given pseudo "hex" codes beginning with "GG" followed by four numeric digits. To accommodate the increased number of glider reports, I have now changed that in the server to use a single "G" followed by five hex characters (not merely numeric digits).

This change will accommodate a much larger number of glider targets. The old system was losing a significant number of targets, on a nice gliding day, because of accidental duplication of the pseudo hex codes.

Please note that if you are using a conditional expression to hide the gliders by looking for hex!="GG%", then you need to modify the condex to look for hex!="G%" and not "GG%", which will no longer work.

Sorry for the inconvenience but the change was necessary to accommodate the increasing volume of data.

Thanks to Mark for discovering the need for this improvement.

Regards
Bev
