I do not believe it! What about the hundreds of SBS-1er users?
What about them?
Why has a firmware upgrade not been considered for the SBS-1er? It has a VHF receiver built in and runs Basestation as well. Kinetic would win much kudos if their ACARS decoder were backward compatible with SBS-1er.
With the demise or at least lack of development of acarsd the ACARS community is crying out for better and more relevant decoders and Kinetic would have done well to have considered this for the SBS-1er users.
The SBS-1 is a redundant model now.
The best we can hope for is Basestation compatibility.
The SBS-1 family does what it says on the tin. I don't blame Kinetic for focussing on the current model.
