A flock of these in my field this afternoon.
About the size of a partridge, foraging alongside Redwings, which are much smaller. There are distinctive yellow spots on its back, long thin beak and white chest.
A Plover of some kind?

Thanks Steve, that's the conclusion I came to after thumbing through a few more books.
