Title: VDL MODE2 decoder
Post by: glenn68 on April 01, 2018, 02:54:27 PM
I wonder if there would be a console VDL2 decoder for windows like MODESDECO2 or ACARSDECO2? It would be nice to have.

Hi

There don't appear to be any console windows VDL2 decoders at the moment. Lets hope for the future.

For anyone who is interested, as far as I know, there are only 3 'hobbyist' VDL2 decoders.

1) MultiPSK - see http://f6cte.free.fr/ .
It is a single channel windows desktop application. It generates a local log file and also can output a TCP/IP feed. There is a chargeable license fee.

The other 2 VDL2 decoders run on Linux; I have them running on a Raspberry Pi v3.

2) dumpvdl2 - see https://github.com/szpajder/dumpvdl2 .
Is a multi-channel VDL2 decoder that generates a log file. Can send basic acars data to PP via UDP.

3) vdlm2dec - see https://github.com/TLeconte/vdlm2dec .
Is a multi-channel VDL2 decoder that generates a log file and also a UDP feed. A specific acars feed to PP has been requested.

If anyone knows of additional VDL2 decoders, please let me know.

Regards
Stuart
