Mode-S Receivers => Other Mode-S Receivers => Topic started by: glenn68 on May 12, 2018, 01:01:32 AM
I just purchased this from Amazon since I already have the other Flightaware required parts.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GT4PY42/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Now I am been around for a while with feeding Flightaware through Plane Plotter and working with all the command line programs on windows.
On Rasberry Pi, Can more than one dongle be used on a single Pi? and run seperate programs on the same Pi?
Now I am not versed in Lynix or Rasberry Pi.
Thanks in advance,
Glenn
I've not had personal experience of running more than one DVB-T device on a single RPi.
But if it helps, you can run PlanePlotter "off" PiAware.
Setup your PiAware feed as explained on the FlightAware site:
https://flightaware.com/adsb/piaware/build
Then run PP on your Windows machine and setup:
Options-> I/O Settings-> Mode-S/ADS-B-> RTL >RPI+Dump1090
Options-> Mode-S Receiver-> RTL dongle RPi Dump1090-> Setup TCP Client-> IP Address:30005
Where IP Address is the IP Address of the RPi.
You don't say what you want to use the other dongle for.
However it is possible to run two dongles on one Pi.
An example is at https://discussions.flightaware.com/t/ads-b-receiver-project-setup-scripts/17807 which enables reception of 1090MHz transmissions on one dongle and 978MHz transmissions on the other.
There is also an example of three dongles receiving ADSB, ACARS and ATC audio: https://hamradioscience.com/adding-ads-b-acars-and-atc-audio-to-planeplotter-using-multiple-rtl2832u-sticks/
I thought of running the other dongle for acarsdeco2 or DUMP vdl2.
Anmer,
I have it set up TCP-IP for PP.
