I have recently run out of space on my h/drive and have installed a 2nd. I have installed Kinetic SBS onto the drive and cut and pasted the sqb file. Active Display Lite knows where the files are and transfers the info ok. However, there are times when some of the reg boxes are blank while all other info is correct. When I click on one of those a/c on the map, the a/c details page comes up but only shows the Mode S ( hex ) code and then I have to fill in the rest of the details manually.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Bob Clapperton.
Welcome Bob.
For those aircraft missing reg, type etc, are those fields populated in the sqb file on the original drive?
Or did you expect AD Lite to have auto populated them in the copy sqb file?
Yes all the fields including some reg but up to 6 reg boxes are empty
Sorry, just read my reply. Yes all worked on the original h/drive and thought ADL would update those with missing reg
Did you copy the BaseStation.sqb file from one drive to the other?
What is the folder name and path where BaseStation is installed on the new drive and what was it on the old?
It's possible you've copied an "inactive" sqb file or AD is mapped to the wrong one that's now in use.
Old
C:\Program Files\Kinetic
New
I:\Program Files\program files\Kinetic\BaseStation\
Thanks. What version of Windows?
Did you look in the Virtual Store, if you're running Vista or above.
Windows 8.1
Thanks.
Windows will have placed the "active" sqb file in the Virtual Store. That's the file you need to copy.
Did you replace the hard drive and make a fresh install of Windows and then BaseStation?
Without knowing precisely what you did I can't offer definitive advice. Other than Google Virtual Store and copy the active sqb file to the new Virtual Store location.
Again apologies was looking at wrong computer, the comp using SBS-1 uses XP, sorry
I am sure we can resolve your issue but need to know precisely what you've done.
From what you've posted I think this may be correct?
1. You have a PC running Windows XP.
2. You added another hard drive.
You mention you "installed Kinetic SBS onto the drive and cut and pasted the sqb file"
This is the bit I can't understand.
The "Kinetic SBS" is a hardware device. It doesn't get installed.
BaseStation is the software that talks to the SBS. This would already be installed on the first drive. BaseStation installs other folders and files, including the BaseStation.sqb database file.
You could have copied the whole of the BaseStation folder (including all sub-folders and files) from the first hard drive to the new one. BaseStation should work as normal as long as you launch it from the new location.
Other apps using the sqb file, such as AD, would then be "mapped" to the location on the new drive.
Can you confirm if my understanding is correct and fill in any gaps?
Thank you for all your help. I have no idea as to what I have just done, but everything is working again.
Once more, thank you.
Bob.
Thanks for letting us know it's all OK now.
