Seventy six years ago tonight 16th./17th. May 1943 Lancaster bombers from 617 Squadron took off from RAF Scampton on "Operation Chastise",the Dambusters,fifty three crew members were killed,Lest We Forget.

The current generations have no idea what or airmen and women gave. I was born in 1946, so a lot of men who had been through it were around, infact, amongst the people I knew as a child were pilots, rear gunners from both Lancs and B17. Thousands gave their lives that we could live in peace and freedom.
