Hi everyone
Since last September, I am using the Acarslogger (Stuart) BS Acars software.
rtl-sdr -> Acarsdeco2 -> BS Acars.
Everything works perfectly, but could someone tell me how to update the BSAcarsAircraftList.ini file, with new ROUTE, POSITION, etc. data?

thanks

Nigel

Hi

I'm not sure how you would do this, but would you mind explaining how you format your .bat file in Acarsdeco2 to feed data to BS Acars? I keep getting error messages when I try to use it.

Thanks

Anmer

@Vordme

Can you open the BSAcarsAircraftList.ini file using Notepad and then copy and paste it here so I can take a look?
Here to Help.

acarslogger

Hi

I didn't realise anyone was using this old application. I haven't used it for years!
Use Notepad to update the BSAcarsAircraftList.ini. The tricky bit is defining a unique series of settings based on a particular acars message format.

As an existing example, the following acars message was captured in the SBS-3 acars log file ...

23/01/2020,10:24:01,131.525,T,G-YMMP,,15,4,M09A,BA0026,"FST01EGLLKIAHN514649E0019529310 748   9  P7C  710909108917413152520261023"

Re-formatted into Airmaster format ...

ACARS mode: T  Aircraft reg: .G-YMMP
Message label: 15  Block id: 4  Msg. no: M09A
Flight id: BA0026
Message content:-
FST01EGLLKIAHN514649E0019529310 748   9  P7C  710909108917413152520261023
----------------------------------------------------------[23/01/2020 10:24:01]

To create ROUTE data settings.

;ROUTE
;Acars Type - '15'
;Airline IATA - 'BA'
;Starting column of unique text - '1'
;Unique text - must not contain a comma - 'FST01'
;Starting column of From Route - '6'
;End column of From Route - '9'
;Starting column of To Route - '10'
;End column of To Route - '13'
;Optional comment - ignored by the application

Entry in the BSAcarsAircraftList.ini file looks like ...

ROUTE,15,BA,1,FST01,6,9,10,13

When an acars message has a label / type of '15' and the first 2 characters of the flight id are 'BA' and the first part of the actual acars text is 'FST01',
the application will extract the characters in columns 6 to 9 as the From (EGLL) and the characters in columns 10 to 13 as the To (KIAH).

Likewise to create POSITION data settings.

;POSITION
;Acars Type - '15'
;Airline IATA - 'BA'
;Starting column of unique text - '1'
;Unique text - must not contain a comma - 'FST01'
;Column containing North/South indicator e.g. "N" or "S" - '14'
;Starting column of Latitude - '15'
;End column of of Latitude - '20'
;Column containing East/West indicator e.g. "E" or "W" - '21'
;Starting column of Longitude - '22'
;End column of Longitude - '27'
;Optional comment - ignored by the application

Entry in the BSAcarsAircraftList.ini file looks like ...

POSITION,15,BA,1,FST01,14,15,20,21,22,27

When an acars message has a label / type of '15' and the first 2 characters of the flight id are 'BA' and the first part of the actual acars text is 'FST01',
the application will extract the character in column 14 as the North/South indicator (N), columns 15 to 20 as the latitude (514649), column 21 as the East/West indicator (E) and columns 22 to 27 as the longitude (001952).

@vordeme

Many thanks for the details of the .bat file. I've got it working now. However, have you considered using the SBS3-ACARS Display option in Display Launcher? This seems to do similar if not more than BS Acarslogger. You can update the Routes information if you have the data (although I haven't tried this) and it presents position data (not all) which I think it derives from VRS (if you have it running) with associated code to read this data in your Acarsdecos2 .bat file.

Just a thought

Nigel

vordme

thank you very much for the information Stuart

Although old, very good program, ¡¡¡¡
Thanks for sharing
Any chance to update it?

@Nigel

Hi Nigel
Thanks for the info, I've never used Display Launcher

But I'll do it
Cheers
