Hi

Looking for some help / guidance if possible.

So, been running an SBS1-er now for 9 years without any issues. Its located in my loft, connected to an antenna on the chimney and connected to the house LAN.
I have a PC in my cabin in the garden that runs base station, feeds various sites and all has been working fine.
I then noticed late last week that I was not seeing any aircraft on my screen and at the lower edge of the screen it stated not connected. I checked all the settings, all was OK.
I looked at my sbs1-er and all lights were on but no ethernet activity. Swapped cables, reset power etc and nothing.

So, did some more playing and tried to ping the sbs1 and nothing came back. So, I thought dodgy Lantronix Xport server module. Tried the device installer software and the sbs1 could not be found.

So, the SBS1 has a version 3 Xport module installed and these are long gone and not supported and neither are the version 4 modules. As it happened at work we had a spare Xport 5 module so yeah, I unsoldered the old one and fitted the Xport 5. Plugged it into the network, device installer found it, configured the IP address to 192.168.0.170 as I always use and thought once I get it home I will connect up and all will be done.
No!!
Whilst device installer at home finds it, I can ping the IP address and get a response but still Base station wont connect to the SBS1-er.
I have the correct IP, correct port and everything setup OK but it does not want to work. So, any ideas???

Wondered if someone could grab some screenshots of the Xport device installer pages of their working setup just incase I have any issues / incorrect settings with the RS232 side of things etc. I guess it needs to be set up right to work correctly.

Any help, pointers or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Neil

Welcome.

Good to know you managed to replace the Xport and can ping it.

Have you checked the IP address in Basestation -> Settings -> Hardware Settings -> Network?

Does this show the same IP address of 192.168.0.170?   I'm assuming it does?

The Xport may need resetting and I have a Kinetic supplied utility that does this, back to the default 192.168.1.170.  I can send you this with instructions if you want to try it?

Unfortunately I've just "donated" my SBS-1eR to someone whose SBS-1's Ethernet Module had failed.

Hi Anmer

Thanks for the offer of the software to reset the module, yes please feel free to email if you like ( redacted ) and I will give that a shot.

Yes, my home network is in the 192.168.0.x region and the base-station & SBS1-er are both set to the same IP address.
I am hoping now its just a configuration issue and that no other parts of the unit have failed. There was a definite ethernet module issue as the Device Installer nor the ping command would work. I can now log into the device as well using my web browser.

I've emailed you the reset instructions.

Are you using the Lantronix Device Installer to access the settings?

I have an SBS-3 here and the Installer doesn't find it.  Maybe it has on on-board module and I don't want to be opening it up just now.

Hi
Yes, received the instructions ok but I think I have connection to the SBS1 ok, so not sure if it will resolve anything. Guess it might reset a setting that we don't know about.

Yes, using the Lantronix Device Installer to find the device, have used the built it web page configuration aswell as just my browser.

That all works fine.

Yes if device installer doesn't find it then maybe that's failed too. Just wonder if these new versions are compatible.
