Ryanair dismisses Stansted Airport bid

Ryanair has said it will not form part of any consortium to buy Stansted after saying the airport's owner BAA had excluded the budget airline from the sale process.

The carrier had said it was in talks with a number of potential bidders.

After the decision by Ferrovial, BAA's controlling shareholder, Ryanair said it did not want to "prejudice" any bid.

I can't understand how Ferrovial/BAA can exclude Ryanair from the bidding process.

Anyone have a link to the Competition Commission's decision?

Surely a private company can choose to whom it sells?

As for CC, this may be a starting point:

Thanks, Mike, but I could find nothing of help in that.

What are you looking for?

The CC website has a good search facility.

I'm looking for any proceedings of the CC concerning the rejection of Ryanair's involvement by Ferrovial

This possibly explains why Ferrovial barred Ryanair;

Having some 70% of the Stansted passenger traffic, O'Leary probably has something else up his sleeve.  ;D

I suspect the CC didn't rule on who could or could not bid.  Looks to me like Ferrovial has chosen not to negotiate with Ryanair.

Like I wouldn't sell Radarspotting.com to AirNav.  8)

Well it certainly looks as if the CC was asked to do something about it.

"We regret Ferrovial's decision to exclude Ryanair from the Stansted sale process and the failure of the Competition Commission to restrain this anti-competitive and anti-customer behaviour by Ferrovial," the airline said.

Ryanair, the airline everyone loves to hate, except the millions of passengers that fly with it.  ;)

I can't see any evidence that the CC has had anything to do with Ferrovial excluding Ryanair from the sale negotiations.

Ryanair seems to be moaning that the CC hasn't stepped in to stop it being excluded.

I fly with Ryanair and have no complaints about its flight service.  That doesn't mean I love O'Leary or his misleading adverts, buried charges or PR.

I did not suggest that the CC ruling had anything to do with Ferrovial excluding Ryanair. I was looking for any evidence of Ryanair having asked the CC to rule on Ferrovial's ban.

That refers to Ryanair's statement in the article  - "We regret Ferrovial's decision to exclude Ryanair from the Stansted sale process and the failure of the Competition Commission to restrain this anti-competitive and anti-customer behaviour by Ferrovial," the airline said.
