Planeplotter charts

Hi everybody , i have a question about new charts for Planeplotter , it´s possible insert charts like Skyvector to Planeplotter ?
I have tried but result only in a static position , when i increase zoom , well no way ...
There´s any program to help that ?

I take it that you are downloading the chart by using screen capture. This converts the vector chart to a bitmap which then loses resolution as you change scale in PP. It does handle vector charts but they have to be stored on the PP server. Perhaps if you ask Bev on the PP forum he might investigate buying the charts from Skyvector and installing them on his servers.

I contacted SkYVector , who at present  charge for third party use.

There is no reason why COAA should pay for the mapping as its up to the individual user to
make use of the mapping provided ... vector .... OSM.....GE NASA etc or make up their own , personal calibrated maps , such as the Sky vector ones.

If SkyVector decide to release the mapping , cost free , then thats a different matter.

A quick look back on the PP group sgould reveal a lengthy discussion on the subject and I seem to recall one of the members created a few calibrated   SV   maps for others to use.

There is a caveat ....  the sky vector charts look  very nice , but , once you introduce traffic on to them they can become rather cluttered......so for any area you'll need a batch at varying degrees of zoom level.

BTW there is a tutorial in the help file showing how to calibrate charts....its worth trying as

G'Day All.
I've had a go at creating a chart by following the step-by-step tutorial here:

I get as far as displaying the globe.jpg, and dragging / zooming to my approx location (highly pixelated).
When I press the Outline View button, all I get is a black screen.

I tried on various screen zoom levels, and get the same thing every time.

Any clues please anyone ?

Hi Greg

If you use an image file for a chart (as opposed to using Outlines), the zoom doesn't work as the image is a fixed resolution.

Zoom only works with outlines and then you have to mrefresh the view after each zoom.

I was following the example on the PP site, so I assumed it should do what they claimed.

So, any ideas where I can find an outline map of Melbourne / YMML ?

The tutorial is correct.  But the OSM bit doesn't explain that each time you drag/zoom and hit the OSM icon, it downloads that map image, each and every time.

If all you want is an OSM chart for Melbourne, follow the tutorial.

But if you calibrate any other chart, my previous post applies.

You can either have non-zoomable charts (images) or zoomable Outlines which use the Basestation.out files.  If you want an .out file for Melbourne airport I can email you one.  But maybe first look at PP Help for using Outlines.

The map ECR-10H (UK- Ireland) is divided in 4 parts from the South to tne North (5300X1901 pixels)
the others are in 3 parts  also South to the North (5800X1901 pixels)
All with an overlap of about 1° of latitude

Below example of how I have divided the UK-Ireland.
