Just tried to start up PP this morning and I'm getting the failed to create a empty document message and pp won't start. Have been running the latest version and nothing should of changed since last night when I shut down.

Any idea what is causing it as I've not encountered it before

Anmer

Are you launching the same version of PP that you used the last time it ran OK?

Yep everything exactly the same as last night. I have reinstalled the pp and it didn't work still, have come back to it after a few hours of being busy and it's started but everything is reset 😬

I might need some assistance setting it back up as its ages since I last did a install 🤣

Yes it seems to be just trying to understand everything again as it's fresh installed 🤣

Just trying to figure out how I change the airplane colours for my sharing and other users 🤔 and I need to check all the sharing settings are correct and everything

Anmer

I haven't used PP for many years but a new install normally retained previous settings.

I'm guessing it was installed into a new location.

Post again if you need specific help with anything, we do have members who use PP.

I think maybe because I had deleted the registry and completely uninstalled it. It was like a fresh install.

I've checked the plane plotter network test page and it looks like I'm sharing and set up correctly, just not sure where it says Raw data Enabled it shows as "no" not sure if that's correct. Hopefully someone who knows a little more about pp than I do can advise if it's correct 😊

Thanks for the assistance though 👍

I've been a bit busy today and don't have time now, but I will look again in the morning and hopefully come up with some suggestions.

I must say though - the empty document thing is a bit of a misnomer, you should have left it alone for several hours as it's normally associated with a network issue - it normally resolves itself automatically. That would have avoided your rather drastic action of re-installing the program.

I'll come back to you tomorrow.

OK, the colours question - are you referring to the label colours? As far as I am aware, you can't change the aircraft colour for local V's shared, you can change it for altitude and you can change it if it's climbing, descending or in level flight. If you do mean the label colours that's here:

Options>>Fonts, colours,widths>>Aircraft chart labels>>Own aircraft labels

or Shared aircraft labels

then choose the colour you want for Normal, Interested and alerted.

Raw data is set in I/O options. You need to stop PP processing (click the black square - second icon from the left) so it turns into a green circle. Then open the I/O options 12th Icon with the blue spanner. Set the raw data as per the attached screen grab.

Once you have things set and all the tests come back OK then you can ask for Master User / Ground Station approval on the PP list.

Good luck come back if you need more information.

Yes looking back I think I was a bit hasty in reinstalling it 😂 oh well you learn I guess 😬😂

As for the colours I was meaning to change the colours for aircraft I'm sharing and the colour for the other aircraft just so I could tell what I was picking up really but I figured it out and it's all good.

I have set everything up and it appears to be sending and receiving data in the test network page so I think everything should be fine. I know next time if it's playing up again to just leave it for a few hours 🤭😂

Thanks for the assistance 👍

Now you have me intrigued, where is the setting to change the aircraft colour for local / shared?

Thanks,

It's under options

Options/fonts,colours,widths then there's the option for own aircraft labels and shared aircraft labels

I just changed the Normal option, not sure what interested and alerted change 🤣

Just like to see the difference in what I'm sharing and what the overall coverage colour is. I changed the font type and colour to red for my sharing just so it's easier to pick them out on the map☺️

Triple7

Ah, so it was the label colour and not the aircraft colour as I suggested previously.

Thanks for clarifying as I thought I might have missed an option somewhere ;D

I'm pretty sure there was/is an option to change the aircraft icon colours too.  I used to use it.

You can change the aircraft colour but only for for altitude and you can change it if it's climbing, descending or in level flight but not for shared or local as far as I am aware.
