I noticed a problem with the AirNav network was reported at 04.58 UTC 11 February 2011.  AirNav acknowledged the outage 10 hours later at 14.51 and there are continuing disruptions.

Some may be familiar with previous AirNav assurances that it employs sophisticated monitoring systems to highlight network disruptions and minimise outages.

It probably has but responding to these at 30,000 feet may not be easy.  ;)

Has this been sorted out now and did Air Nav explain the situation?

Anmer

Since I don't subscribe to the AirNav network I've no idea if it's fixed.

Last post (yesterday) by AirNav read:

We are working on the server and one of software releasescaused this drop-out. We have reverted to teh previous server software version and are correcting the current problems.

you've got to love the old server dropout excuse. ;D

Disruptions will occur.  But what I still don't understand is why AirNav doesn't appear to spot them until hours after the customers post on the forum?

When this last blew up AirNav assured everyone that it had implemented sophisticated monitoring so that the outages would be minimal.

And let's not forget, for most AirNav customers, the network is an extra charge.   And I don't see the PP network suffereing as many disruptions.

True enough but Air Navs outages seem to occur more than other systems

The AirNav website and forum disappeared 10 minutes ago and are still down.

Forum and website now back online.

Talking of AirNav servers, I see the new ShipTrax server has been having problems since Thursday 9 February and no photos are being displayed.

"The photos come from our server and we have had a few glitches over the weekend, we will get this back up as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies."

Long weekends at AirNav  :)

No wonder no-one wants to make me an offer for the Radarbox I'm selling!! :D

Looks like AirNav has been busy getting the network server upgraded to handle more subscribers.  I wonder if ShipTrax uses the same server?

We've just upgraded RadarBox network server to be able to process more ADS-B messages per second.
This update involves many changes in terms of software algorithms.

..........This means that is is able to process 320 thousand ADS-B messages per second which is well above our current usage. This means that the server is able for a massive network expansion, something that we exepct to happen within this year. Stay tuned. :-)

Following a recent bout of network outages, AirNav has posted the following:

"We are implementing/adding more features and we will need to bring the server down for a few minutes during the next days. Anyway things will quickly get back to normal with a 100% stable server."

The words "normal" and "100% stable" are unlikely bedfellows  ;)

I wonder if Air Nav would consider doing my end of year accounts?

With creative writing like theirs, I'm sure creative accountancy would be a doodle for them! 8)

Anmer

There seems to be some serious issues with the AirNav server today:

"We had some outages today and we are analyzing and correcting some failures right now. Things should get more stable in 30 minutes."

http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=7003.msg80609#msg80609

The above was at 7.13 pm.

Then at 10.09 pm, 3 hours later!

"As the server is unstable at the moment you will see some weird issues. Once it becomes stable restart RadarBox and all should be normal if not email us at support."

Looks like it's a bit more difficult to fix?

AirNav update 05.23 am 1 June 2012:

"We have had some instability problems with our server software that caused some alerts not to be sent today. We are continuing our work to find where the problems are and correct them."
