Hello Guys

I notice there seems to be a lack of military traffic when watching the USA with PlanePlotter.

The normal commercial stuff no problem.

Maybe there is a valid reason or few ground stations (Mlat).

Paul

Hi Guys

I thought that may be the answer.

Lets hope things improve over the coming months.

Still plenty of traffic to track so not the end of the world  ;D

Paul.

You'll only see Mil traffic where there is an mlat network

Obviously the UK is well covered , so too Holland and we are gradually spreading into Europe
In the US there seems to be an objection to sharing data....even though the lack of mil traffic is always a hot topic over there.
They just dont seem to realise that sharing data will improve things for them

The exception is Colorado where you'll see thousands of mlat fixes a day...its running at about 3000 fixes/day at the moment....and here you will see mil traffic pop up

This is thanks to the guys in Col who have set up a good network across the State.
California is close behind and I am hoping that with the introduction of the rtl dongle
things will now start to improve.

One good aspect about the dongle is that those sharers who use the ANRadar Box can now spend just a few pounds , buy an rtl dongle and become ground stations
So they can continue to run their RB , split the antenna and run a ground station for PP alongside....that way , they won't even need to pay the annual mlat fee :O)

Satcom,

Very much appreciate the explanation on how things are proceeding with MLAT over in the states.

Lets hope more users become ground stations and understand sharing data will benefit the hobby, this being a positive step in right direction.

Networking is the way forward  ;D

Kind Regards

Paul
